    • Orphan Black, one of the greatest sci-fi shows of all time, is set to leave Netflix at the end of the month, along with its follow-up series, Orphan Black: Echos.
    • Rolling Stone ranked Orphan Black as the No. 18 best sci-fi show of all time, praising its commitment to its out-there premise and the virtuoso performance of lead actor Tatiana Maslany.
    • The series, which follows a woman who discovers she is a clone and delves into the commodification of women’s bodies, has received critical acclaim and holds a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes across its five seasons.

Science fiction fans will want to flock to Netflix within the next four weeks before one of the greatest sci-fi shows of all time leaves the platform.

The streaming giant creates over 700 original titles for its 200 million monthly users, but bolsters that content with licensing deals with other networks. A lucrative deal between AMC and Netflix has brought some of the best shows on TV to the streaming platform over the past few years.

Unfortunately, one of those shows is about to leave.

    ‘Orphan Black’ Leaving Netflix

The Tatiana Maslany-led Orphan Black is scheduled to depart Netflix later this month

“The series is currently showing a removal notice for September 1st, 2026. (Remember, this means your absolute last day to binge all five seasons is August 31st),” What’s on Netflix wrote before revealing the follow-up to Orphan Black, titled, Orphan Black: Echos, is also leaving on Sept. 12.

The series follows a woman named Sarah, “who steals the identity of a suicide victim who looks exactly like her. Sarah has always lived the life of an orphan outsider. But a clone is never alone. Sarah hopes that cleaning out a dead woman’s bank account will solve all her problems. Instead, her problems multiply – and so does she.”

‘Orphan Black’ Named Among Best Sci-Fi Shows of All Time

Rolling Stone ranked Orphan Black as the No. 18 best sci-fi show of all time.

“This genre-spanning thriller about human cloning was so committed to its out-there premise that it employed a science advisor to keep its fringe genetics on the up and up. Like all great science fiction, the BBC America show spun out from an all-too-real premise: the commodification of women’s bodies by those in power,” Rolling Stone wrote.

“But Orphan Black’s true secret weapon was Tatiana Maslany, a virtuoso actor capable of slipping into the skin of 11 different characters — from a cockney con artist to a tightly wound soccer mom to a fanatical serial killer. A show that might have become bogged down in a million conspiracies kept itself compulsively engaging thanks to whip-smart dialogue and that mesmerizing central performance.”

Rotten Tomatoes placed the series at No. 14 on its own list of the best science fiction shows and it remains one of the best-reviewed series with a 93% from critics across the five seasons.
