After a 16-year run with the Texas Rangers, Neil Leibmanis stepping down from his position as chairman of Rangers Sports Media and Entertainment effective immediately. The team’s announcement said Leibman will be focusing on other business opportunities. Leibman left his role as team president and COO in January 2025 to lead the Rangers new business entity Rangers Sports Media and Entertainment, which oversaw the creation of in-house Rangers Sports Network and REV Entertainment.

The team’s direct-to-consumer product started on virtual platform Victory+ before a midseason announcement this year that DTC service BZZR would stream their games. Leibman is an investor in BZZR, though that was not thought to be the reason for his departure.

Leibman is an original member of the ownership group that purchased the Rangers in August 2010, and will return his stake though not serve on the board. The sides are said to have parted on good terms. He was appointed chairman of the Rangers Ownership Committee in the spring of 2013, and worked closely with owner Ray Davis on the agreement to build Globe Life Field and Texas Live!

Leibman’s responsibilities will be handled by current staff. Day-to-day responsibilities on the RSN side have been handled by SVP/Broadcasting Angie Swint, while the REV side is guided by President Sean Decker. The family of Davis, 84, could also get more involved. The team said any additional changes in management structure will be addressed in the future.
