Natural Star Nani is reportedly all set to team up with filmmaker C Prem Kumar who is known for his Tamil romantic drama 96 and emotional entertainer Meiyazhagan for his next romantic film after Bloody Romeo.
Fans have shown their interest in the alleged collaboration especially after Nani recently confirmed that a subtle and emotional love story is part of his upcoming lineup.
The untitled project is said to be about love and human relationships and marks a departure from the high-octane action films Nani has been associated with in recent times, reports added.
Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth is also reported to be in the race for the female lead. But the project and casting details are yet to be officially announced by the actor and director.
The actor has now revealed that he is ready to move on to a romantic film after wrapping up his work for Sujeeth’s Bloody Romeo.
“It’s a subtle and sweet love story, aimed at audiences of all age groups,” said the actor describing the upcoming project.
“I’m happy to be involved in a family movie that kids and families can watch, something good to do instead of the action movies I’ve been doing lately,” he said.
Nani has not officially announced the director of this romantic film, but reports of him being paired with C Prem Kumar have raised the hopes of fans of emotionally rich storytelling.
C Prem Kumar gained fame with 96, the 2018 romantic drama that starred Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan. The film delved into former schoolmates’ unresolved emotions when they met after years of separation.
He later made Meiyazhagan, with Karthi and Arvind Swamy, which was appreciated for its exploration of family bonds, nostalgia and human connections.
Prem Kumar’s style of filmmaking is usually focused on emotional relationships and understated storytelling, rather than conventional commercial spectacle. So, a collaboration with Nani could give audiences a different side of the actor, who has recently appeared in films with darker themes and larger action sequences.
Is Rukmini Vasanth the heroine?
Reports also suggest that Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth may be roped in to play the female lead opposite Nani in the untitled film. The actress has gained recognition for her work in projects such as Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and Kantara: Chapter 1.
However, her involvement is not confirmed and the makers have not announced the full cast of the film.
If the reports are true, the collaboration would bring together Nani’s appeal in Telugu cinema, Prem Kumar’s relationship-centric storytelling and Rukmini’s growing presence in South Indian cinema.
Nani’s Upcoming Films – Bloody Romeo and Others
Before starting the reported romantic project, Nani is gearing up for Bloody Romeo, an action comedy directed by Sujeeth of Saaho and They Call Him OG fame.
The actor has described the film as a stylish, theatrical entertainer that mixes action with humor. He is expected to play a character with double identities – one as a chef and the other as an outlaw. The rest of the story is under wraps.
Nani’s last film was Srikanth Odela’s The Paradise. The film gave him a meaty role and marked yet another collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker after Dasara.
With Bloody Romeo in the pipeline and a softer romantic drama reportedly lined up next, Nani seems set to explore contrasting genres in his upcoming projects.
Fans will have to wait for an official confirmation on whether C Prem Kumar will direct Nani’s upcoming love story and if Rukmini Vasanth will be a part of the cast.
