Nana Patekar last speech
Nana Patekar, who died on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75, had made what is now being remembered as his final public appearance just four days earlier in Goa. During the event, the veteran actor spoke about life, purpose, mortality and the responsibility of giving back to society.
His words have taken on a more emotional meaning after his sudden death. Patekar reportedly suffered a severe cardiac arrest and was taken to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, where doctors attempted CPR for around 45 minutes but could not revive him.

Patekar attended the installation ceremony of Samraat Club International in Dona Paula, Goa, on October 4.
Dressed in his familiar white kurta and scarf, the actor delivered a reflective speech in which he also remembered his late close friend and former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
While speaking about mortality, Patekar said:
“We all have to go someday. I don’t know whether I will be here tomorrow or not. Every person’s life will eventually reach that point. But before that happens, I have to ask myself: am I able to do what I want to do?”
‘If my world is limited to my children, my wife, and my home, then what is my purpose?’
Patekar also spoke about the need to look beyond one’s immediate family and contribute to society.
He said, “If my world is limited to my children, my wife, and my home, then what is my purpose? I have to give something back here, don’t I?”
The comments reflected the actor’s thoughts on responsibility and the larger purpose of life, themes he often spoke about publicly.
During the same address, Patekar touched upon public discourse, disagreement and the importance of maintaining basic decency while expressing one’s views.
“If I don’t like something, I must speak about it. But there is a way of speaking. When we speak publicly, there has to be some basic decency. That has to be maintained, otherwise there is no meaning to it,” he said.
Nana Patekar died four days later
Just two days after the appearance, Patekar died in Goa.
The 75-year-old actor was reportedly taken to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula after suffering a severe cardiac arrest. Doctors attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes, but he could not be saved.
His final public comments, particularly the line “I don’t know whether I will be here tomorrow or not,” are now being widely recalled after his death.
A career spanning nearly five decades
Nana Patekar began his film career with Gaman in 1978 and went on to become one of Indian cinema’s most distinctive actors.
He delivered acclaimed performances in films such as Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahaar and Ab Tak Chhappan, while also showing a completely different side of himself through comedy in films such as Welcome.
He remained professionally active until his final days and had several projects associated with him that audiences are yet to see.
