    Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 received PSSR 2.0 support with a new patch today

The new, enhanced version of the PlayStation 5 Pro’sPlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaler, commonly also known as PSSR 2.0, got another high-profile game on its list of supported games, as developer Insomniac Games and lead architect Mark Cerny added official support for the upscaler to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with a new patch that also adds new content on PlayStation 5 and PC, signaling how support for already released single-player games won’t stop even after Sony Interactive Entertainment’s decision to stop releasing them on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

“It’s a Brand New Day for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2! Get TWO NEW SUITS for Peter Parker in today’s update, including the Fresh Start and the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls suits,”Insomniac Games wrote on X. “v1.005.000 also adds support for Enhanced PSSR on PS5 Pro and Power Saver mode!”

Although the addition of support for Power Saver mode isn’t particularly significant, since, as we covered in the past few months, the actual power saving isn’t enough to justify playing the game with visual cutbacks, the introduction of PSSR 2.0 support is. Up until now, the game relied on the system-wide toggle thatdoes not take into account improved versions of the upscaler, so the addition of native support will likely have added improvements that further enhance the experience on the most powerful current generation system available.

As already mentioned, the new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 patch also launched on PC. While it obviously doesn’t introduce any of the PlayStation exclusive features, it does add the two additional costumes as to keep parity between the two versions of the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is only one of the few games based on the Marvel Comics universe and characters to have been released during the current console generation, a number that is set to increase later this year with MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the first 4vs4 tag fighter developed by Arc System Works launching in a little over a week on August 6 on PC and PlayStation 5 and Marvel’s Wolverine, the highly anticipated action-adventure game developed by the Spider-Man series developer Insomniac Games launching on September 15 exclusively on PlayStation 5.
