Mamta Kulkarni dances to her hits
Former actress Mamta Kulkarni has returned to the limelight after a video of her dancing to her hit songs from the 1990s went viral on social media.
The actress recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Rajasthan Film Festival, held in Jaipur.
During the event, she also danced alongside students when songs from her movies were played. Mamta was spotted dancing to numbers such as ‘Koi Jaaye To Le Aaye’ from Ghatak, ‘Ek Munda Meri Umar Ka’ from Karan Arjun, and ‘Lamba Lamba Ghunghat’ from Sabse Bada Khiladi.
Besides her dance, the actress also grabbed attention for her outfit. She wore a glamorous outfit while performing on stage, totally different from the usual saffron-clad spiritual persona she adopted after taking sanyas in 2025.
These videos have prompted numerous social media users to react to her comeback to her former Bollywood image.
While some of the critics quipped about Mamta’s change, others complimented her appearance and remarked that she still appeared glamorous.

One commented, “Bhai ye to sanyashi ho gyi thi.” Another added, “Yeh toh sadhvi ban gayi thi.” A third person wrote, “Utr gya bhoot sadhvi banne ka.”
When Did Mamta Kulkarni Take Sanyas?
After years of living a secret life, Mamta Kulkarni again made headlines after she left her lavish lifestyle to embark on a spiritual path, adopting the new name “Shri Yamai Mamta Nandgiri.” She later became a Mahamandaleshwar, a revered spiritual leader, on January 24 at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Several saints opposed the decision to appoint her as Mahamandaleshwar. Following the backlash, Rishi Ajay Das, founder of Kinnar Akhada, expelled both Mamta Kulkarni and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi from the Akhada.
Mamta Kulkarni’s disappearance from Bollywood
Mamta Kulkarni was one of the most popular actresses in the 1990s. She was known for her bold roles and stellar performances. However, her career started to decline in the early 2000s after a series of controversies, legal troubles, and box office failures.
Her outspoken nature and disagreements with filmmakers made her hard to work with, which led to fewer film offers. Things took a darker turn when her name appeared in a high-profile drug trafficking case in 2016. Eventually, Mamta disappeared from the public eye.
