Carrot Top is no longer receiving treatment at a hospital.
A week after the comedian (real name Scott Thompson) was hospitalized in Las Vegas following a suicide attempt, his representative confirmed to NBC News Sept. 26 that he’s been released from the hospital.
Further details regarding his condition were not provided, per the outlet.
Carrot Top—who has hosted a residency in Las Vegas for more than 20 years—began receiving treatment on Sept. 18, with his rep sharing an update two days later.
“Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care,” the rep said in a statement to TMZ Sept. 20. “He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him.”
According to the rep, at the time, Carrot Top had been joking around with the “medical staff caring for him” and was enjoying reading the supportive messages from fans, along with “stories from people about how his comedy helped them through difficult periods in their own lives.”

“Hearing those stories and feeling that support has meant a great deal to him during his recovery,” his rep shared. “Scott and his family remain deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness and continue to ask that his privacy be respected.”
Following the news of Carrot Top’s hospitalization, The Luxor Hotel and Casino, where he has hosted his nightly comedy special since 2005, publicly expressed its support.
“Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering,” the Luxor Hotel and Casino told KLAS. “We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs.”
Carrot Top’s scheduled show dates last week were canceled, according to the Luxor Hotel and Casino’s website. Per the hotel, his next show is set for Oct. 19.
While theDennis The Menace Strikes Again actor has kept a relatively low profile in the limelight—aside from his Vegas comedy shows—he’s previously opened up about his relationship with his craft.
“I think you learn the craft a little bit more, you get a little more confident,” he shared on the Whiskey Gingerpodcast in 2023. “I love writing. I love trying new jokes every night. I’ll try five or six things even if they eat s–t, I do them and my crew always knows—they love that part of it.”
As Carrot Top sees it, “I hate when comics just do the same s–t forever don’t try to be creative. Eating it is part of growing as a comic.”
