Jax, Stew, and more LIB stars talk to Entertainment Weekly about the viral comment.
Love Is Blindseason 11 stars Jax and Stew had one of the more awkward reveals in the Netflix show’s recent history.
After his male costars told Stew, a 34-year-old engineer, that he resembled a Kennedy, he told his match Jax, a 31-year-old entrepreneur, about his pod nickname. So when they met IRL after getting engaged sight unseen, she was expecting JFK — and in her words, got “Mitt Romney.”
“I honestly am unapologetically myself,” Jax tells Entertainment Weekly in an exclusive interview. “I didn’t mean for it to be… It’s actually, not like, not a compliment. Mitt Romney’s wicked hot; I think he’s so handsome. But it was a little spicy, and I could have delivered it differently, but so is he. He’s cocky. He’s sitting there saying, ‘What do you think?’ That’s what I think. I stand by what I said.”
Jax’s costar Michaella argues to EW that the comment “was perfectly accurate” — but Stew and fellow castmate Morrey aren’t so sure.
“It certainly caught me off guard,” he says in a separate interview with EW, as Morrey calls the comparison “bulls—.”

“I gave him the nickname Kennedy. I didn’t lie to you,” Morrey says before adding, “I could see Jax going on a date with Mitt Romney.”
After the less-than-ideal reveal, Jax said in a confessional interview that she didn’t want to be with Stew — and didn’t want to talk to him again. He is subsequently informed

“I went in thinking it’s the right show for me and I still think it is because going through what we went through…it’s very overwhelming to see somebody for the first time and compute all of this,” Jax tells EW. “It wasn’t about his looks or anything. It was about the overwhelming, intense connection that was not there. It was so crazy. I can’t even put it into words.”
She adds, “I panicked, and I regret a lot, but it is what it is.”
Stew, for his part, is trying not to fault Jax for her actions.
“I’ve had a good amount of time to think on it. It’s been on my mind,” he says. “But, ultimately, that was such a crazy experience. It was nothing anyone was prepared for. Like, you can’t fault someone for not being graceful under pressure and the emotions that they were feeling. And, since then, we’ve obviously reconnected. We’ve chatted. I don’t hold it against her at all.”
