The New LEGO Ministry of Magic Is Made for Collectors
The new set recreates the Ministry of Magic at minifigure scale and measures more than 20 inches high, 13.5 inches wide and 6 inches deep when assembled. Its 3,491 pieces make it one of LEGO’s major Harry Potter display builds, rather than a small playset intended primarily for children.
The model features 14 minifigures along with a collectible Lynx Patronus. LEGO has packed the build with recognizable details and scenes from the wizarding world, giving collectors plenty to explore during the build and afterward as a display piece.
The set also fits into LEGO’s broader Harry Potter Collectors’ Edition lineup, making it particularly appealing to fans who have already picked up large-scale sets such as Hogwarts Castle, Gringotts Wizarding Bank or the Hogwarts Express.
Why the Release Is Timely
The timing is particularly interesting for Harry Potter collectors. HBO’s new television adaptation is scheduled to premiere Christmas Day 2026, with the first season adapting ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.’ A new trailer released this week has given fans a much closer look at the upcoming series and its cast.
LEGO has also confirmed that new Harry Potter sets based on the HBO series are in development, although specific details haven’t been revealed yet.
That makes the new Ministry of Magic a notable release for fans who want a set tied to the established film-era version of the Wizarding World before the new television adaptation arrives.
Is the $450 LEGO Set Worth It?
At $449.99, this is clearly aimed at serious LEGO and Harry Potter collectors rather than casual shoppers. The sheer piece count, large footprint and 18+ designation make it more comparable to LEGO’s premium display models than traditional Harry Potter playsets.
For collectors, the strongest appeal is the combination of size, minifigure-scale detail and its place within the Collectors’ Edition series. Fans should also keep in mind that large LEGO sets require substantial display space, and the $450 price makes this a purchase worth considering carefully rather than an impulse buy.
With the HBO series generating renewed interest in the franchise and additional Harry Potter LEGO sets reportedly on the way, the Ministry of Magic could be one of the standout collector releases for the 25th anniversary era of LEGO Harry Potter.
The LEGO Harry Potter The Ministry of Magic – Collectors’ Edition is available now for $449.99. Prices and availability can change, particularly around major LEGO launches and holiday shopping periods.
