Lagos Comic Convention celebrates 15th anniversary
Lagos Comic Convention is set to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a major gathering of comic, animation, gaming and pop-culture stakeholders and enthusiasts at the Landmark Event Centre, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a statement, President of the Cartoonists Association of Nigeria, Dada Adekola, said the 15th edition of the annual convention, which has grown into a major platform for Nigeria’s creative and geek culture community, will feature networking, cosplay, panel sessions, masterclasses, exhibitions and gaming competitions.
He said the event would hold tomorrow from 9am to 7pm under the theme: “Where Are the Superheroes?”
Adekola said: “The 2026 edition will provide opportunities for participants to connect with creators, artists, gamers, writers and other professionals within the creative industry.
“A major attraction at the convention will be the Creative Campus, which will host a Cartooning Workshop from 3pm to 5pm.”
According to him, “the workshop is designed to expose students and interested participants to drawing techniques, caption writing, materials and other writing tools used in cartooning and visual communication.”
He said the session would feature visual and communication artist, Victor O. Asowata, as the speaker, alongside other professionals, including Mike Asukwo, Morak Oguntade and himself.
Adekola noted that the convention would also provide a platform for participants to explore comics, animation, films, books, games and other forms of creative expression.
“The 15th anniversary edition is expected to attract young creatives, comic enthusiasts, cosplayers, gamers, artists and members of the wider entertainment and creative communities,” he said.
The event is supported by Animation Nigeria, Africa ComiCade, N Group, Embassy of France in Nigeria, Comicpanel World, Anime Nigeria, Spoof! Animation, The ACE and Games Zone.
Adekola urged the public, particularly young people interested in comics, animation and other creative disciplines, to participate in the convention.
He says tickets and further information about the 2026 Lagos Comic Convention are available through the organisers’ website, www.lagoscomiccon.net.
