Kylie Kelce did not intend to tilt Kate Middleton’s crown.
A week after Kelce invited the Princess of Wales to chat on her Not Gonna Lie podcast, the host corrected a minor misstep, as she previously referred to Middleton as “Princess Kate,” rather than “Catherine, Princess of Wales.”
“I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine ‘Princess Kate’ was offensive,” Kelce said during the Oct. 1 episode of Not Gonna Lie. “Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologize for the mistake I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected.”
Indeed, while Middleton is widely known by her original moniker prior to marrying Prince William in 2011—her husband, with whom she shares Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 6, famously referred to her as ‘Kate’ in the couple’s first interview together in 2010—she has reportedly said she prefers to go by “Catherine” when being addressed directly. (As Middleton is widely known by her maiden name in the media, E! News continues to refer to her as such.)

“I apologize,” Kelce emphasized. “I will get that sorted immediately starting now.”
But while she owned up to that particular gaffe, she scoffed at a commenter who claimed she’d need to “clean up” her act if she were to have Middleton as a guest.
“Agreed,” Kelce quipped. “Would I curse at her face? No. Here’s the thing, I love a curse word. I love it so, so much. But at the end of the day, I am respectful of the situations that I am put in, at least being respectful to the people I am speaking to. I don’t go out in public and just let the f-bombs fly.”
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old—mom to Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finn, 18 months with husband Jason Kelce—shared that she wasn’t expecting a response from anyone, particularly Middleton, regarding the invitation she extended during her Sept. 24 episode.

“I don’t think anybody owes me anything,” she added. “Let me emphasize that. I would love to speak to the Princess of Wales because of many reasons. She is an incredible woman. She has children. She played field hockey. She battled cancer. There are so many things that I would love to speak to her about. Do I think she has time to hop on this podcast? No, I do not. I don’t think that.”
