After getting appreciation for his/her work in season 1, Kritika is all set to return for the show’s second season, where Gulrukh is expected to play a bigger role.
As per Kritika, what makes Gulrukh so attractive is her multi-dimensionality. She finds it really intriguing how the character handles the situations that come her way, as well as how she finds a way to deal with her own power and sense of self.
“I’ve always been drawn to women who are complicated, who have contradictions and who don’t fit neatly into a box. That’s something I recognise in Gulrukh as well. She has vulnerability, ambition, intelligence and strength, sometimes all at once, and I think that complexity is what makes her so compelling to me,” said Kritika.
The actor has played many roles that are emotional, often depicting women who have to deal with difficult social issues. Gulrukh gives him another opportunity to explore the way a woman sees herself as she confronts the world around her.
“What I love about Gulrukh is that her power doesn’t come from simply being the loudest person in the room. It comes from how she understands the world around her, how she adapts and, most importantly, how she begins to understand her own worth and choices. That makes her journey very interesting to me,” she added.
Kritika Kamra on Gulrukh’s journey in Season 2
While the first season introduced viewers to Gulrukh and her complexities, the upcoming chapter will give the character greater agency She believes Gulrukh will move beyond simply responding to the situations around her and begin making choices that influence the course of the story
The actress further noted, “Season 2 takes Gulrukh several steps forward. There is a greater sense of agency and a greater understanding of what she wants, and that naturally gives her more power and prominence in the story. She isn’t just reacting to the world anymore; she is beginning to shape it in her own way. I think that evolution is going to be very exciting for the audience.”
With Gulrukh set to take on a more significant role in Matka King Season 2, the character’s evolving relationship with power and her growing understanding of her own choices are likely to remain central to her journey.
