On August 14, 2026, “Virtual Hiroshima Station 2.u,” which operates on VRChat, will undergo its largest-ever renovation since its opening. A new area, the “North-South Free Passage,” will be opened, and features such as the ability to display and exhibit user-created works will be added.

“Virtual Hiroshima Station 2.u” opened in May 2026. After its opening, users pointed out issues such as the lack of a thumbnail space, the heavy processing load on parts recreated with 3DGS (3D Gaussian splatting), and the low level of object reproduction making the environment feel bleak. In response to this user feedback, updates have been made since the opening, and this latest renewal includes the addition of new features.

We have introduced “QvPen,” a drawing tool for VRChat, and added “TopazChat Player,” which allows users to share audio and video, to the Shinkansen concourse. We are also working on initiatives to display user-created artwork.

This renovation will open the previously under-construction “North-South Free Passage.” A feature will be introduced that allows users to display and sell items they have created within the game world. A large screen, similar to those found at the real Hiroshima Station, will also be installed for screening video works and event productions. The large screen will be available for use from August 17th.

The 227 series train car, which is the first train you disembark from upon arrival, will also be refurbished. New features will be added, and the space will be reconfigured to give you the feeling of “arriving at a station.”

Additionally, from August 14th to September 14th, official JR West virtual items will be sold in the VRChat shop. Items will include plush toys and stickers of the 227 series train, a portal modeled after a ticket gate, and more. Collaboration items with “Mamehinata” will also be available.

“Virtual Hiroshima Station 2.u” is free to use. You can access it
