    Key Points

    • Jodie Sweetin is looking back on a close call she shared with Bob Saget after a Janet Jackson concert.

    • The actress said she was “sitting in the car” with her Full Housecostar when “the window exploded.”

    • It was a drive-by shooting, Sweetin explained. “I leaned over to tie my shoes and it’s just like ‘pop pop pop‘ and the whole thing shattered.”

A fun night out between costars almost led to total calamity for Jodie Sweetin and Bob Saget.

The actress looked back on her late Full House costar with some of their castmates, including Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Scott Weinger, and Andrea Barber at Sunday’s ’90s Con at the Connecticut Convention Center.

According to Entertainment Weekly‘s sister site, PEOPLE, Sweetin recalled “a Janet Jackson concert with Bob. We were parked outside of Edge of Epics going to that Janet Jackson concert… and we were sitting in the car and like the window exploded. We were like, ‘Oh!”

After running for cover, Sweetin says she and her screen dad “had to wait for two station wagon taxis, because this is pre-Uber, to come and get us and we were late. And then Bob had to drive me home and explain to my mom what happened.” Fans can imagine that “Bob was not always my mom’s favorite” after the incident.

When asked to clarify, Sweetin insisted, “They shot the window out of the car… It was a drive-by. It was back in the late ’80s, early ’90s. I leaned over to tie my shoes and it’s just like ‘pop pop pop‘ and the whole thing shattered.” When Stamos asked how it’s even possible that the story wasn’t picked up by the media, Sweetin reasoned, “To this day I told that story and I wonder if it actually, it’s one of those like, ‘Did that actually happen?… I was there and I doubt that it happened, but it actually did.”

Sweetin has previously looked back on the edgy comedian’s antics that sometimes got him “in trouble” with the moms of Full House‘s young cast.

In conversation with Barber, with whom she cohosts the How Rude, Tanneritos rewatch podcast, Sweetin said Saget’s raunchy jokes put him on several moms’ lists. “Our moms would be up in the bleachers in the audience on non-audience nights,” Barber added. “So, it was just the moms and a few stand-ins. But they would stand up and they’d be like, ‘Bob!'”

It has been four years since Bob Saget’s death at 65. The comedian died of head trauma after falling in his Orlando hotel room.

Following his death, many of his Full Housecostars have poured their hearts out in tribute to the beloved Tanner family patriarch. Bure, Loughlin, and Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, even gathered in May in honor of his 70th birthday to pay their respects.
