Val Chmerkovskiy will be benched from week 6 of DWTSafter he made online comments about judge Carrie Ann Inaba that sparked a backlash.
No matter what happens on Dancing With the Stars, Jenna Dewan has her fiancé’s support.
The ballroom has been on fire since Tuesday’s minor dust-up between judge Carrie Ann Inaba and pro Jenna Johnson spiraled into a conflagration that left Johnson’s husband and fellow pro, Val Chmerkovskiy, benched for online comments about Inaba.
For the first time in DWTShistory, an actively competing pro has been removed from the lineup for one week. Dewan is Chmerkovskiy’s celeb partner, and in his stead on the upcoming sixth week of the competition, she will dance with recently eliminated pro Alan Bersten.
Chatter about the controversy has overtaken the DWTSfandom, but one thing has been steadfast for Dewan: the support of Steve Kazee.

“Everytime I think I can’t love you more your grace, your class, and your heart prove me wrong,” the actor wrote on his Instagram story on Saturday. “You got this baby! We got you!”
The supportive text laid over a shot of Dewan in her full ballroom regalia, mid-twist during a rehearsal on the set of The Rookie.

Dewan has been pulling double duty on the ABC police procedural and the same network’s reality dancing competition since season 35 kicked off in September.
The actress joined the cast of The Rookie in season 3 as Bailey Nune, an Army vet who becomes a firefighter’s lieutenant and the wife of John Nolan, played by series star Nathan Fillion. The series wrapped its eighth season in May and is currently filming its ninth.

Dewan and Kazee, meanwhile, first met in 2012, when Kazee was starring in the Broadway production of Once. Kazee and Dewan went public with their relationship in 2018, months after Dewan and Channing Tatum announced their separation.
The couple were engaged and welcomed their son, Callum, in 2020. They had their daughter, Rhiannon, in 2024.
Kazee will be there to support Dewan on Tuesday, when she takes to the ballroom with Bersten rather than Chmerkovskiy for season 35’s highly anticipated “Dedication Night.”
New episodes of Dancing With the Stars season 35 air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
