“I’m much stronger than I thought I was, and I would say that my friendships, my female friendships, have really been instrumental to me discovering or recovering that strength,” Fisher exclusively told E! News at the Spa Weekendpremiere in Las Vegas Aug. 7. “I’m incredibly grateful.”

And working with a stacked lineup of girlbosses—including Anna Faris, Michelle Buteau and Leslie Mann—on the film in theaters Aug. 21 only made her feel more grounded in her latest phase of life.

“Honestly, it was so much fun,” Fisher said. “I feel like from the time we did the table read, we all just got along. I’ve known Anna for years, and Leslie and I had made a movie together and Michelle, I was a fan from afar.”

“But we all just had a natural chemistry and we’re all girls’ girls,” she added. “So, there was a lot of support for each other and encouragement, and it was really special.”

Before Fisher and Cohen—who share three kids together—finalized their divorce in June 2025, the Now You See Meactress opened up about the heartache she endured over the split.

“It’s the most difficult thing that I’ve been through and I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process,” the 50-year-old told The Sunday Times in February 2025. “I never imagined my family being separated, but we are committed and loving parents.”

Sacha Baron Cohen (L) and Isla Fisher attend a screening of the Oscars on Monday, April 26, 2021 in Sydney, Australia.

For Fisher, it was her friendships with women such as Courteney Cox and Kate Ritchiethat kept her afloat as she and Cohen, 53, navigated their breakup.

“The women in my life have held me,” she reflected. “I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve.”

But the breakup has also been a path to self-discovery.

“I’m trying to remind myself of my new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible,” Fisher shared with Harper’s BazaarAustralia in July 2025. “Any time there’s change, it’s hard to adapt. But hopefully I’m doing an OK job.”

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher first met in the early aughts at a party in Sydney, Australia.”She was hilarious,” the Borat star told The New York Timesin October 2020. “We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people in the party. I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did.”

The duo got engaged in 2004.

I’ll stay there forever.”

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years,” they wrote in a joint statement shared to their Instagram Stories April 2024, “we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”
