IO Industries, Bluebell, and Focal Point VR create live dual-8K immersive workflow

Multiple vendors are demonstrating a live dual-8K immersive workflow on the Bluebell Opticom stand, combining IO Industries’ 8K cameras and Bluebell’s fibre transport with Focal Point VR’s Stream Processor for real-time processing from live capture to headset.

It allows audiences to experience a live event from immersive viewpoints, with the potential to add programme feeds, graphics, data and interactive features in a headset-native environment.

Anil Parmar, Sales and Marketing Director, Bluebell Opticom, said: “It’s a new proposition, really. The technology’s been there, certainly for us on the signal transport side, but bringing together IO Industries’ cameras, with Focal Point’s processing, to make the content into VR, using VR headsets or Apple Vision Pro, and for the Blackmagic cameras, it’s something that broadcasters or event organisers can have as an additional revenue

The concept allows events to essentially sell the same seat multiple times, while ensuring viewers always have the best seat possible.

“It’s not a fad like 3D was, it’s a lot more tangible,” Parmar added.
