Launched in the United States by Humanoids in 2025, Metal Hurlant, the legendary quarterly comics and science fiction anthology, has announced its very first special issue, devoted to Daft Punk.
This authorised, 272-page special issue will be released in early 2027 and is available for preorder now from the publisher’s website.

Metal Hurlant: Daft Punk features the work of more than 30 creators, including Laura Pérez, Malachi Ward, Jonathan Djob Nkondo, and European comic book superstar Zep, alongside two rock-infused archival stories from masters Mœbius and Philippe Druillet – all punctuated by a slew of articles unpacking the lore, technology, and revolution of Daft Punk and their contemporaries.
Each comic book short story alchemises a fragment of time in the duo’s narrative – sometimes directly, sometimes through metaphor.

An exclusive edition featuring a cover by Daft Punk’s longtime collaborators Cedric Hervet and Warren Fu, the pair behind the cover art and illustrations for Random Access Memories, is available only by preorder.
Also exclusive to preorders: the chance to be part of the “Concert That Never Happened.” Eighty VIP seats are offered to fans and readers, who will have their faces drawn by artist Florian Breuil and their names printed in a double-page spread appearing in every copy of the special issue.

Humanoids has also announced the issue will mark the start of an ongoing collaboration between Metal Hurlant and In Sheep’s Clothing Hi-Fi, a roving music collective based in Los Angeles and New York.
This week also marks the launch of Talking Humanoids, a blog where Humanoids and Metal Hurlant will share insights into their new and ongoing projects, as well as their own lore of both intimate and mythological proportions – transmitted from their rock’n’roll past, cybernetic future, and mercurial present.

Born in 1975 from the cosmic spark of Metal Hurlant, Humanoids has never simply followed the curve of publishing. It has helped shape it. Through every shift of era, medium, and frontier, its spirit has remained the same: restless, visionary, and unafraid to evolve.
More a movement than a company, Humanoids has spent five decades creating groundbreaking storytelling and stunning visuals. It champions creator-driven content that explores the power of art beyond boundaries and across genres.
