A new update has just dropped for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, adding new armour and weapons, new PVP arenas, and a powerful new enemy for you to battle.
Patch 14 – known as the Confrontation Update – launches with two new DLC armour sets for your Space Marines in the PvE Operations mode. The Salamanders Champion adds a complete ensemble for the Heavy class with loads of classic Salamanders details, including pauldrons, a back torch, and a drakescale cloak reminiscent of Vulkan He’stan himself. You’ll be able to mix and match individual parts with your favourite existing armour sets, and it also comes with a suitable draconic skin for the fearsome multi-melta.

Those with more subtle tactical sensibilities can also outfit their heroes with the Raptors Cosmetic Pack, which includes five unique armour pieces. As anyone who has read Noah van Nguyen’s Elemental Council will know, the Raptors specialise in guerilla warfare and a pragmatic approach to combat that prizes mission success over individual glory, reflected in their armour’s practical appearance.
Both of these DLCs will be automatically available to Season Pass 2 owners, and can be acquired separately for everyone else.

Alongside the two DLCs, a slew of free updates expands both PvP and PvE modes even further. Those fighting the Eternal War against (or as part of) the vile Heretic Astartes will have two new locales to paint with traitor blood – Facility and Sanctum.

Meanwhile, a powerful Thousand Sons sorcerer in Scarab Occult Terminator armour takes to the field in the Operations mode, joining other Terminus-class enemies like the Carnifex, Helbrute, and Neurothrope. They’re a tough nut to crack and pack an arsenal of potent psychic attacks, so make sure your squad is prepared – they could crop up in any mission where the Thousand Sons have a foothold.

To cap it off, six new Heroic weapons will be available for dedicated warriors who have maxed out their regular counterparts, including a blazing orange Salamanders power sword, a power fist mounting a meltagun,* and a Deathwatch-pattern stalker bolt rifle.
The Confrontation Update is available right now, so jump in and get purging with all of your new gear – and if you still don’t own Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, now is the perfect time to get it!
* Keeping this Salamanders theme going, it’s the spitting image of Garran Branatar’s power fist. You know, the Terminator from Kill Team Cassius?
