Nearly two decades after the original film hit theatres, Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed a sequel to ‘Heyy Babyy’. The announcement came on Thursday, September 3, at Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s Mumbai office.
Nadiadwala revealed the news during a meeting with New South Wales Premier Chris Minns. The 2007 film starred Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Vidya Balan. Sajid Khan directed the original, and Nadiadwala produced it.
The story followed three carefree bachelors whose lives changed after a baby was left at their doorstep. It became a well-loved comedy-drama in Bollywood.
Australia connection
The sequel shoot will take place extensively in Australia. This is part of a fresh three-film deal between Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Australia-based TEMPL.
Chris Minns was in India from August 31 to September 3. He visited the production house and met the team. He called Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment one of the biggest names in Indian cinema. And, he said choosing Australia for three films shows strong confidence in the country’s screen industry.
Minns also pointed out the old ties between the studio and Australia. He referred to the original Heyy Babyy shoot almost 20 years ago and said officials were glad to see the studio return.
What Nadiadwala said
Nadiadwala spoke warmly about filming in the country. He called Australia breathtakingly beautiful and highly professional for filmmakers. He also noted his team had a good experience there before.
