Have You Heard? Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received an ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC with a runtime of over 3 hours. The V Shantaram biopic, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tamannaah Bhatia, has not been shelved, director Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande has clarified.

A long commitment
Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has received an âA’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and the certification has revealed that the action thriller will be a lengthy affair, with a reported runtime of 194 minutes (3 hours 14 minutes). The film’s official synopsis is out too. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, it is set in post-Independence Goa and follows a gangster navigating loyalty, morality, and redemption amid violence and jealousy. Described as a world of brutal action and morally conflicted characters, Toxic, also starring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi, releases on August 26.
The wait just got longer
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tamannaah Bhatia
The V Shantaram biopic, starringSiddhant Chaturvediand Tamannaah Bhatia, has not been shelved, director Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande has clarified. The film, which was initially scheduled to go on floors in April 2026, has been pushed to April 2027 due to scheduling delays. “Now with the fresh dates, we are planning to shoot next year with a few more big names in the casting apart from Siddhant and Tamannaah,” Deshpande told Bollywood Hungama. The biopic will chronicle filmmaker V Shantaram’s journey from the silent era in cinema to sound and colour.
Who was V Shantaram?
V Shantaram was a pioneering filmmaker, actor, and producer who directed acclaimed Hindi and Marathi films including âDr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani’ (1946), âAmar Bhoopali’ (1951), âDo Aankhen Barah Haath’ (1957), and âPinjara’ (1972). Known for his innovative visual style and elaborate song sequences, he remains one of Indian cinema’s most influential pioneers
Two timing, and loving it
Shabana Azmi is unfazed by the clash between her films Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, releasing in cinemas today. “To be offered such diverse parts at this stage of my career is pure luck, for which I’m very grateful,” she told Screen. Recalling the time when some of her films released within a a short span, she said, “There was a time when Avtaar (1983), Masoom (1983), Kaamyab (1984) was released within a fortnight of each other. But that’s because actors were working in 8-10 films at the same time, and double shifts a day were a regular occurrence.”
