Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan is finding it difficult to attract audiences at the box office. The film saw some growth on its second day, but its earnings are still low comparedwith Mirzapur The Movie, which continues to perform strongly in theatres. Scroll down to find more details.
Haiwaan box office collection day 2
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Haiwaan earned Rs 2.50 crore net in India on Day 2. This takes its total India net collection to Rs 5.50 crore, while its total India gross collection stands at 6.60 crore. The film opened with Rs 3 crore on Day 1. The film continues to show a dip and needs a much bigger jump over Saturday and Sunday to improve its box office performance.
For the unversed, Haiwaan is directed by Priyadarshan and brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together on screen after several years. The two actors were last seen together in Tashan in 2008. The film is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam thriller Oppam. Akshay plays Parshuram, while Saif plays Shyam, a visually impaired man who gets caught in a dangerous situation.
Haiwaan vs Mirzapur box office collection
The difference between the two films becomes clear when their collections are compared.Mirzapur The Movieearned around Rs 9.69 crore on Day 9 Its total India net collection has reached around Rs 167.64 crore. This means Mirzapur The Movie earned more than five times Haiwaan’s Day 2 collection, despite being on its ninth day in theatres. The gap is even bigger when their overall collections are compared
Why this weekend is important for Haiwaan
The next two days will be important for Haiwaan. A strong jump on Saturday and Sunday could help the film recover from its slow start. However, the film has a tough task ahead. Mirzapur The Movie continues to bring audiences to theatres, while Haiwaan will need strong word of mouth to see a major improvement in its collections. For now, Mirzapur The Movie is clearly ahead at the box office, while Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan needs a big weekend boost to stay in the race.
