In a surprise development, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered has come to the original Nintendo Switch.
Since the initial announcement, we’ve only heard that the game would be on Nintendo Switch 2. There’s been no sign of the original Nintendo Switch getting the game as well.
We were surprised then to randomly check the Nintendo eShop, only to see Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered available for Nintendo’s previous console as well. It has the same $30 asking price.
When we recently spoke with Atari, we asked why there would be a Nintendo Switch release. The company told us at the time: “The distribution decisions for each game are made in consultation with our distribution partners and retailers, and in this case retail demand has so far dictated a Switch 2 release. A future Switch 1 release is possible.”
Interestingly enough, Atari reversed course extremely quickly here. It’s been a rather confusing situation, but regardless, it’s nice to know that original Nintendo Switch owners aren’t being left out.
There’s just one final thing we’ll mention. At least right now, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered only has a physical release on Nintendo Switch 2. If anything changes on that front, we’ll let you know.
