If you’re into video games, board games, or comics, then GameXpo is for you. This new international exhibition will be held in Heraklion, Crete, this coming weekend for the very first time. It is an exciting new venture that has already secured major participants, including Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced and Francesco Nepitello, the designer behind top-tier board games like Dune.
Crucially, the exhibition will be free of charge for all visitors.

If someone had told us a few years ago that Crete would host an international exhibition dedicated to gaming and imagination, we probably would have laughed. Today, however, we aren’t laughing—we are eagerly awaiting an event that aspires to put the island on the global map of gaming and creative entertainment.
GameXpo 2026, taking place on September 12 and 13 at the Crete International Exhibition Center (CCEC), aims to turn Heraklion into a hub for thousands of fans of board games, video games, RPGs, comics, and geek culture from across Greece and abroad.
The event is expected to host dozens of companies, creators, artists, and clubs, offering a rich program full of presentations, tournaments, workshops, talks, and interactive activities for all ages.
Special emphasis is placed on board games and role-playing games, with the participation of prominent designers and publishers from Greece and overseas. Among the guests is the award-winning Italian game designer Francesco Nepitello, creator of titles such as War of the Ring, Dune, and The Hobbit, as well as Crete-born designer Vangelis Bagiartakis, known for Hegemony, World Order, and Souvlaki Wars. Visitors will have the opportunity to attend seminars and presentations by creators who have left their mark on the international gaming industry.
Simultaneously, the public will meet Greek and international video game developers and travel through the history of digital entertainment via the impressive archive of the Video Games Museum. The highlight of the video game section is the presence of the world-renowned company Ubisoft, appearing in Greece for the first time with the title Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Additionally, attendees can participate in organized tournaments for popular card games such as Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic: The Gathering, alongside dozens of other activities.

Another key element of this year’s event is the integration of the beloved Creta Comic Con, which is joining forces with GameXpo for 2026. This collaboration maintains and strengthens the famous Artist Alley, a space dedicated to comic creators, illustrators, concept artists, and artists from all over Greece.
The Cosplay competition holds a special place in the program, where participants of all ages will showcase impressive themed costumes to compete for significant prizes. Meanwhile, Star Wars fans can enjoy a unique character parade featuring the official global Star Wars community and its Greek chapter. Jedi, Sith Lords, Stormtroopers, and many other beloved characters will bring one of pop culture’s most iconic worlds to life.
The event’s international dimension is a key highlight. Partnerships and participations from leading figures in the global gaming industry have already been announced, as GameXpo aims to become an institution connecting Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean with the international market of gaming, technology, and fantasy.
The organizers emphasize that the exhibition is not just for hardcore gamers, but primarily for families, young people, students, and any visitor wanting to discover a world of creativity, imagination, and modern entertainment.
Set against the backdrop of Crete, one of the Mediterranean’s top tourist destinations, GameXpo 2026 aspires to be more than just a large exhibition—it aims to be a complete experience combining entertainment, culture, technology, and tourism.
Admission to the exhibition will be free for all visitors. Additionally, free shuttle buses will operate from the center of Heraklion to the CCEC and back, facilitating access for those without their own transportation.
