French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the creation of an International Video Game Festival. The aim behind this initiative is to give video games a larger cultural platform, similar to how film, music, and animation already have major international showcases.
During the Lumière Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence 2026, the French President placed a great emphasis on games during his opening address. He believes games are nothing short of a cultural phenomenon, especially for a country like France.
Emmanuel Macron hopes the International Video Game Festival will become a broad platform for developers and others in the games industry to interact and discuss the future.
