Maine (WABI) – The first Saturday of May is Free Comic Book Day, and the celebrations made their way to a local comic bookstore in Bangor
Galactic Comics has been participating in Free Comic Book Day for seven years.
They were giving out up to ten books per patron across a wide variety of genres and age ranges, including some golden age comics.
They had over 150 people join them for the event taking home over 1 thousand comic books.
For the organizers the fun is often in seeing families come through together.
“Oh my gosh, it’s definitely introducing people to the world of comics. When your ones with kids coming in and getting sometimes their first comic book and they’re really excited,” said Galactic Comics’ Paul Eaton when asked about his favorite part of the event. “I feel like the printers do a really good job getting stuff for like Stitch and Sonic out there and things that are relevant for children to hopefully get them their first time getting a comic book.“
