What’s coming in the v42.40 Update?
Two New Sprites: Honey and Obsession
- The v42.40 update adds the Honey Sprite and the Obsession Sprite to the loot pool on October 15. Fortnitemares kicked off with four Sprites: Spooky Dash, Vampire, The Deer, and Dumpster Dive. This update completes the full Fortnitemares Sprite set. If you’ve been working through the Sprite Checklist, this is your last chance to finish it before the season ends.
- The Obsession collaboration lands on October 15 alongside the Obsession Sprite, with One Wish Willow arriving in the Item Shop. Check the shop after 6 AM ET once downtime clears for the full cosmetic lineup.
- The Yeat collaboration is also expected with this update, bringing the rap artist into Fortnite Festival with new Jam Tracks and themed cosmetics. Full details on the Festival pass content are expected in the official patch notes when they drop at the start of downtime.
- Hazbin Hotel was named in Epic’s official Fortnitemares announcement, with three outfits confirmed: Charlie Morningstar, Vaggie, and Alastor. The first-week Item Shop schedule didn’t include these skins, making October 15 the most likely launch window. Epic hasn’t given a confirmed date yet, but multiple outlets are pointing to this update.
New Loot Hacks and Match Overrides
- Six new Loot Hacks are expected with the v42.40 update, likely themed around Fortnitemares, along with at least three more Match Overrides during Fortnitemares 2026.
