Epic Games has released Fortnite’s version 42.10 update on September 3, and it’s live on all platforms now, and this brings reworked Sweeper Shotgun, drops new Loot Hacks to customize and more.

Console gamers will see this download as Fortnite update 5.19/1.000.230, and this also brings a slew of bug fixes and more. Expct a hefty patch to Save the World and other modes too.

For the complete patch notes, read on, though be prepared for a long one.

Fortnite Version 42.10 Brings Various Battle Royale Changes

    • The Sweeper Shotgun returns, freshly tuned up for Override!

      • Now fires in a standard shotgun spread instead of its previous wide pattern

      • Reload can be interrupted to fire as soon as shells are loaded

      • Faster firing rate with the same damage output

      • Slightly smaller mag and shorter maximum range

Hack your loot and make it your own with a new pool of Loot Hacks to unlock, upgrade, and customize.

Note: Sprite Dust spent on Loot Hacks can be freely reset and respecc’d in each set, but does not transfer to the next Loot Hack refresh.

Loot Hacks has been great at introducing fun & unique gameplay options from Fortnite’s past you can tailor to your own preference, but we’re seeing it lead to too many high-powered weapons too often. We’ve adjusted the quality cap for weapons, meaning you will now hack in Rare to Legendary loot, rather than Epic to Mythic.

In today’s update, we’re making a few targeted tweaks to give the Pump more pump while reining in the Assault Rifle and 8-Bit a tad now that new Loot Hacks are here to shake up the loot pool.

      • Slightly increased damage and equips faster

      • Reduced damage and equips faster

      • Slightly reduced headshot damage multiplier

      • Slightly reduced damage at Mythic rarity

    • Big Head Mode: Everyone has a big head!

    • Prop Hunt: Crouch and don’t move for several seconds to turn into a prop.

    • Action Hero: While mid-air, enter Hangtime when aiming weapons and deal increased damage.

    • Coming next Thursday – Sharpshooter: Increases weapon accuracy, reduces recoil and bloom.

If you missed our hotfix last week, Match Overrides are now more likely to appear 2-3 times in a match, and Squad Only Overrides are also slightly less common.

    New Sprites & Quality-Of-Life Improvements

v42.10 introduces the first two of our five Design A Sprite winners – Avila215 and Enorull!

Alongside new Sprites, mastering your collection has received a boost – it’s now easier to resummon mastered Sprites and there’s a new Mastery track of rewards.

      • X-Ray Sprite (Design A Sprite Winner!): Periodically mark enemies in an area around you.

      • Onigiri Sprite (Design A Sprite Winner!): Applies Overdrive after eating or drinking a consumable item.

      • Mega Man Sprite: Slip and slide around with reduced friction.

      • Overshield Sprite: Grants Overshield, scaling with Sprite Level.

    • Mastering a Sprite now has an extra perk! Once a Sprite is mastered, the Sprite Dust cost to resummon it is reduced by half – making it easier to bring your favorite power into every fight.

    • A new Sprite Mastery track has been added, granting rewards and Gizmos for mastering Sprites. Each update will add more rewards to the track!

      • In 42.20, a new arcade-themed Back Bling will be added to show off the Sprites you’ve mastered in Fortnite Override.

    • We’ve adjusted some Cheat Codes sequences so they feel more natural to input.

    • Mastery Mondays are back starting September 7 by popular demand – a perfect time to upgrade your Sprite roster.

✅ Bug Fixes, Improvements & Adjustments

    • Your cursor will now stay on the selected item when choosing Locker sort options instead of jumping to the top of the screen.

    • Vehicles are no longer incorrectly labeled with the Reload tag in the Locker.

    • The Join Crew button on the Passes screen is responsive again.

    • The Crew Styles page no longer appears empty or shows content from a previously viewed Pass screen.

    • Fixed a bug where Emotes could incorrectly be used while hovering with the Tails Sprite, causing character models to twist unnaturally.

    • Fixed a bug that caused several Outfits (Evie, Undercover Kor, Wolverine, Indiana Jones and more) to stretch unnaturally with misplaced heads and arms on the Starter Island.

    • The Heatwave PJ Outfit no longer plays reactive elimination audio when the Reactivity (Off) Style is selected.

    • Fixed visual clipping on the Twyn and Joey Outfits when using their built-in Emotes.

    • The Spider-Sense Emote no longer incorrectly shows web effects when used with Outfits other than Spider-Man (Brand New Day).

    • The MrSavage Outfit no longer loses its mask when the Reactivity (On) Style is selected.

    • The Millennium Falcon Glider’s hyperspace effect no longer outlines areas of the map, creating visual noise when deployed.

    • The Spacebound Carvers Pickaxe from the August Fortnite Crew Pack is now correctly part of the Crew Series.

    • The Adanna of the Deep Outfit’s head no longer disappears when viewed from a distance.

    • Lobby Hack: INVALIDCHEAT is no longer invalid.

    • Cleared the 8-Bit Leaderboard of entries where players got a high score by invalid means, and scores earned in Custom matches now no longer count towards the Leaderboard.

    • Players viewed from a distance now move much more smoothly instead of appearing choppy at times.

    • Fixed a movement bug that prevented sprinting when your Forward Diagonal Angle setting (a.k.a. double movement) was set higher than 70.

    • Fixed a jittery movement animation caused by sliding into or falling onto boost pads at Green Hill Zone, or canceling boost while stepping on one.

    • Players rebooted by a teammate using the Sonic Power Sneakers will no longer respawn with their camera incorrectly zoomed in or out.

    • The spectator camera now consistently follows and centers on players using the Sonic Power Sneakers’ Spin Attack.

    • Opening the inventory or map while charging the Sonic Power Sneakers’ Spin Dash no longer leaves you stuck in place.

    • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented hopping off grind rails at Green Hill Zone.

    • The Tails Sprite no longer leaves a persistent pulsing effect on your back that flashed more intensely while aiming down sights.

    • Fixed a number of Cheat Codes being difficult or impossible to interact with unless standing at just the right angle, appearing invisible or not accepting inputs.

    • Fixed a bug causing Storm Scout Sprite’s Overdrive effect to last longer than expected.

    • Mastering the Crown Sprite now correctly grants its Cheat Master variant.

    • The Sprite Summon button no longer stays disabled after returning to Battle Royale from Reload.

    • Pinging Tetris Rift blocks after their animation ends no longer shows a placeholder icon.

    • Reduced input latency when VSync is used, with the biggest gains on AMD and Intel GPU configurations at 60 Hz.

    • Further optimized Performance Mode, allowing low-spec configurations to render at a noticeably higher resolution with no extra GPU cost and minimal visual difference.

    New Touch Camera Smoothing Setting

Back in July (v41.20) we changed how camera rotation feels with touch input. Thanks to your feedback, we reverted it and went to work on giving you more control. That control now arrives in the form of a new Touch Smoothing setting – you can find it under Touch and Motion. It defaults to 50%, which matches the v41.20 change. If you prefer the original feel, you can set it to 0%. If you’d like smoother camera rotation, slide it up and let us know what works best for you!

Tapping the Sprint button while standing still now starts you sprinting in the direction you’re facing (with Auto-Run enabled). Previously, you had to be moving before sprint would kick in. If you run out of stamina mid-sprint, you’ll keep auto-running – tap the Sprint button again to start sprinting when your stamina recovers.

    • Auto Fire and Aim Assist now trigger consistently around the Stone Sanctum’s hidden maze walls and doors – no longer blocked when you can see an enemy, and no longer triggering when you can’t.

    • The Cheat Code near the ice cubes east of The Battlewoods no longer appears under the ground.

    • The Secondary Action button for the God Mode Llama now works correctly, letting you use the item.

    • The Battle Bus will now reliably appear and fly normally at the start of Blitz matches on Android.

Fortnite OG Season X Rifts In

Over at Loot Lake, the Zero Point (the cause of it all) sits suspended at the exact moment of explosion – enter the area surrounding the orb and gravity stops playing by the rules. Northwest of Salty Springs, The Devourer’s skeleton lies where it fell to Mecha Team Leader – still intimidating, even in defeat.

Dusty Depot is whole again – three warehouses, zero craters, standing right where the Meteor left off. Speaking of which, look up.

The Meteor is back – you can’t miss it, but you can land on it and explore if you’re feeling adventurous.

South of Paradise Palms, a Rift Zone leads into Pandora – stay inside and avoid damage for a few seconds, and your shields will regenerate.

Yes, the B.R.U.T.E. is also back. Mechs drop from the sky in the early game – grab a friend, race to the marker on the map and climb in. One of you drives, stomps and leaps while the other handles the missile launcher and shotgun – and, when needed, spends materials to overcharge the shield for a temporary defense boost.

If you’d rather deal with mechs from a distance, the Automatic Sniper Rifle would like a word.

Seize the future with the OG Season X Pass! Earn XP anywhere to level up and unlock Oxide, Ultima King, and Kinetic Catalyst Outfits.

    • B.R.U.T.E.

    … and more!

✅ Fortnite OG Bug Fixes & Improvements

    • Fixed two Ziplines east of Neo Tilted that couldn’t be accessed from one end and could eject you early from the other.

    • Fixed flickering textures, floating structures and cables clipping through the floor of the building west of Loot Lake.

    • Grass no longer clips through multiple floors and sidewalks across Paradise Palms.

    • Corrected the size of a suspiciously large Chest found at Neo Tilted.

    • Removed duplicate dinosaur and camel statues at Paradise Palms.

    • Fixed flickering textures and a floating wall at Frosty Flights.

    • Objects at the ruined house at Snobby Shores now properly fall when their supporting structures are destroyed, and we’ve patched a visible terrain gap in the southern part.

    • Fixed a bug that could cause buildings between Snobby Shores and Neo Tilted to disappear from their usual spots.

    • Removed a duplicate lab structure at Pressure Plant that required you to open the doors twice.

Fortnite Version 42.10 Arenas Patch Notes

Auras are now enabled in Arenas! After you begin a win streak, your currently equipped Aura will in the Stadium Grounds area. The effect goes away when you enter a Combat Room.

    Elite Zadie Gameplay Commentary

New Elite Zadie gameplay commentary plays during the match.

We’ve enabled the scoring badge that shows your current point total in a tournament. This includes highlighting when points are added to your score during the match.

The next round of Test Cup tournaments is on the following dates:

At the conclusion of the Test Cups, we will be evaluating any additional improvements and determining opportunities for Arenas Performance Evaluations.
