Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of the brand new update, which will usher in the launch of a new crossover event for summer. Fortnite update 41.20 has a July 16 release date on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and mobile. Needless to say, the new update will launch alongside a period of server downtime, which kicks off at 9am BST UK time

Fortnite update 41.20 release date and downtime
According to Epic Games, Fortnite update 41.20 will make its debut on July 16. According to the Epic maintenance page, server downtime will run from 9am BST UK time until 10.30am BST
“Hot Bat Summer is almost here!” reads an Epic Games tweet. “Downtime for v41.20 begins at 4 AM ET (8 AM UTC) with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
As you can see from the tweet, matchmaking will be disabled before downtime actually begins. If you do want a last-minute game before downtime, then make sure you login before 8.30am BST
Fortnite update 41.20 Hot Bat Summer event and other new content
The headline addition is the launch of the Hot Bat Summer event, which adds new skins, points of interest and other items
New skins and characters include Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, as well as a summer variant of Batman and a Batman pooch
Fans will also be able to explore the Bat Cave, use items like the Batman Grapnel Gun, and drive the Batman Beach Buggy
Epic Games will also add the Batman Sprite to the game, which will be available to unlock by completing weekly quests
Other crossovers include an Odyssey collaboration ahead of the new film, as well as a David Beckham release

Fortnite update 41.20 early patch notes
GENERAL
• Nintendo Switch players encountering storage space issues
– Nintendo Switch players without SD cards may see an error about running out of space during patching or when launching the game
BATTLE ROYALE
• [Reload] The “Reboot” action may not work if mapped to a custom bind
– If a player assigns the Reboot action to a custom bind, it may not work. This occurs when both the controller and keyboard inputs are used
LEGO ISSUES
• Swivels might break builds
– We’ve identified an issue where swivels may cause builds to break. We’re currently investigating and will share an update as soon as we have more information
• No notification for unlocking Charm recipe
– We are aware of an issue where some players won’t get notified if they’ve unlocked a new Charm recipe. We are working on a fix and will provide an update once it has been implemented
• Lag/hitching issues in the Storm King fight
– We are aware of lag/hitching issues occurring when players are fighting the Storm King. We are actively investigating and will provide an update when this is fixed
• ‘F’ key conflict: unable to interact with objects
– If the ‘Use’ command is assigned to the ‘F’ keyboard button, players may not be able to interact with objects in Brick Life
• A prompt to flip a vehicle no longer appears when a vehicle is flipped
– When standing next to a flipped vehicle, players may notice the prompt to flip the vehicle is no longer displayed
