Fortnite’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day collaboration went live with update v41.30 on July 30, bringing back the Mythic Web Shooters and a fresh Spider-Man NPC, but the long-rumoured Spider-Man Sprite did not ship with it. Multiple leakers and outlets have since confirmed the companion item exists in the game’s code but remains unreleased, leaving fans hunting for a Sprite that isn’t actually in the game yet.

No Spider-Man Sprite Landed With the Brand New Day Update

For weeks, dataminers had pointed to a Spider-Man Sprite arriving alongside the film tie-in, and expectations were high heading into July 30. According to esports.gg, Fortnite’s latest update added new Sprites to the game, such as the John Wick, Llama, and Peely Sprites, but there is no Spider-Man Sprite in the game, and it may or may not launch this season.

The outlet noted just how strange the omission looked given everything else that did ship. As it put it, “It’s a bizarre outcome, considering the Spider-Man Webshooters are back in the game and two new skins will land in the Item Shop later today.”

What Actually Shipped in Fortnite v41.30

Even without the Sprite, the update was one of the heaviest content drops of Chapter 7 Season 3. Sportskeeda’s patch notes breakdown confirmed that the Fortnite x Spider-Man: Brand New Day collab is one of the main highlights of the v41.30 update, with Spider-Man’s Web Shooters now available in Battle Royale, obtainable from the NPC Spider-Man at The Battlewoods POI or by opening Spider-Man’s Backpacks.

Loot rates were also tuned in the hero’s favour. Per the same patch notes, Spider-Man’s Web Shooters are guaranteed drop items, the spawn rate for Spider-Man’s Backpacks was increased, and drop rates for Cube Sprite variants were boosted for the event window.

GameRant separately confirmed the location and duration of Spider-Man’s in-game stall, reporting that Spider-Man is a new NPC that players can find on the island as of August 1, and he will remain there for the rest of Chapter 7 Season 3, based at The Battlewoods.

The Hidden Sprite Still Sitting in Fortnite’s Files

The Sprite hasn’t vanished from the conversation entirely. Leaker HYPEX dug through the update’s files and found evidence of an unfinished item, describing it in a post cited by esports.gg as an “UNRELEASED SPIDER-MAN SPRITE” that “Gives a ‘Danger Sense’ Ability” and “Detects who’s aiming at you & marks them for 5s,” noting “The Sprite isn’t in the files & the ability is missing final tuning, so it might ne scrapped or more Sprites in C7S4.”

esports.gg framed this as evidence the ability is a nod to Peter Parker’s signature power, writing that the leaker outlined that the Sprite gives a ‘danger sense’ ability, which is a play on the character’s Spider-Sense. That leaves the door open for a later drop, possibly timed to a future Chapter 7 season rather than this collaboration.

The earlier leaks that fuelled expectations weren’t baseless, either. Weeks before launch, leaker Blortzen had flagged gameplay tags suggesting a web-swinging Sprite ability, reported at the time as letting players “swing around just like the Spider-Man Web Shooters.” That groundwork is presumably what HYPEX later found still sitting unfinished in the build.

Web Shooter Power Hours Give Players a Consolation Prize

While the Sprite is missing, Epic Games did lean hard into the film’s release with a dedicated event. ComicBook.com reported that Epic used the moment to fully restore the classic mobility item, noting that during the Power Hours players are able to get the returning Web Shooters, a Mythic item that spawns as a guaranteed drop, meaning any player who logs in should be able to swing around the map like Spider-Man.

The scheduling backs this up: the first Web Shooter Hours session ran on August 1, with a second session following later the same day, giving both North American and Asia-Pacific players a shot at the event across its two windows. For Australian and New Zealand players, that structure typically means one of the two daily sessions lands in the early morning local time and the other around midday to early afternoon, so it’s worth checking Fortnite’s in-game event timer rather than assuming a single fixed slot.

The Web Shooters themselves aren’t new to Fortnite, but their return marks a genuine nostalgia play. As GameRant’s item guide explains, the Spider-Man Web Shooters in Fortnite are a Mythic mobility item that functions similarly to the Grappler — players web swing by pressing and holding the fire button while aiming at a target, then releasing to detach, and can chain multiple swings together, though touching the ground puts the item on cooldown.

For collectors still holding out hope, the Sprite system itself shows no signs of slowing down — Epic has steadily added new companions tied to Batman, John Wick and now potentially Spider-Man since the mechanic launched in Chapter 7, and unfinished files have a track record of surfacing in later updates once abilities are fully tuned.
