My Top 10 Comfort TV Shows

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. John’s chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

You know those days when you don’t want to be a part of society and just want to stay in bed? Those are the perfect days to binge-watch your favorite comfort TV shows again. If you don’t have any comfort shows or want some new ones, here is my perfectly curated list:

HIMYM is a show about five friends living in New York City navigating adulthood together. At its core, the show is about treasuring every moment because nothing stays the same forever. At least, that’s what I take away from it. The main character, Ted, is reminiscing about his 20s, telling his children the story of how he met their mother. This is my favorite show of all time. I would truly give anything to watch it again for the first time (but unfortunately, I can recite every word of every episode).

“Modern Family” is a classic, a show about a family trying to figure out their new dynamic. Yes, this show is a sitcom, but the character development and emotional storylines will have you crying and laughing in the same scene. It’s a must-watch show.

Jess finds her long-term boyfriend cheating on her and needs a new place to live. This new place to live happens to be in a loft with three male roommates (sometimes four; shoutout Coach). This show is honestly just a feel-good show that helps me get out of bad moods.

The nostalgia factor of this show alone gets me to re-watch it all the time. A teen mother and her daughter defy the expectations that have been placed on them and build a life together. The cozy holiday aesthetics of this show mixed with the love plots and cozy small town friendships makes this the perfect show to watch on a crisp fall day.

This show is criminally underrated. A Freeform sitcom, this show is about a bartender in his 20s whose life is about to change when he finds a baby (his baby) on his doorstep. Now, he has to figure out how to be a dad with the help of his mom, his brother, his roommate, and childhood best friend. Like “Modern Family”, this show is a tear-jerker that will have you giggling in the next scene.

Am I biased because I adore Andy Samberg? Maybe. This show follows a young detective in a Brooklyn police precinct who does pretty much whatever he wants until he gets a new captain. Now he has to figure out how to do things by the book. This show is so cozy and has a crossover episode with “New Girl”, so go watch it!

The series follows Meredith Grey, a surgical intern whose last name carries a legendary reputation in the hospital. This show is different from the others on this list because it’s kind of depressing. But it tackles a lot of difficult topics and shows each character trying to figure out their own lives while trying to save everyone else’s. It’s my favorite show to watch on a rainy day (because the show is based in Seattle).

An all-time classic, “The Office” follows a group of office workers at a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Sounds boring but it is such an easy, feel-good show that you kind of accidentally get invested in. Every character becomes your favorite at some point and this show makes boring, everyday corporate life feel lighter.

90s classic that I can never stray away from. I grew up watching Friends, so this could also be a nostalgia factor. If you couldn’t sense the pattern already, I love a sitcom. More specifically, I love a sitcom that follows a group of friends in their 20s living in NYC. If you haven’t watched “Friends” because of how hyped up it is, you’re missing out. The show is popular for a reason. Every relationship dynamic, bet gone wrong, and personal struggle (other than Ross’ three divorces) in the show feels like something you can relate to.

Most of my shows until now have been older shows but this one came out in 2025. This show is about five friends living together in Queens, New York (shoutout Queens). Each character is a mess but the one thing that keeps them together is each other. I think this has quickly become one of my comfort shows because of the time period. The plot lines focused on social media trends, living in Queens right now, and using Find my Friends to find a date for your best friend (iykyk) is relatable to any 20-something person in this generation. The new season comes out on August 27th and I couldn’t be more excited.

Each of these shows reminds me that I have time. “How I Met Your Mother” starts when Ted is 27, each “Friends” character is in their late 20s, even “Gilmore Girls” shows you that it’s never too late to change your mind or find love. I know some of these picks are basic, but going back to the basics is what keeps me sane. So whether it’s a rainy day, a sick day or a “just need to bed rot” day, enjoy the comfort of watching these shows!

‘Clayface: Celebrity Dirt’ #1 is one of the coolest debuts of the year

    By JamesJuly 8, 20260

Clayface has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to the Batman’s rogues gallery. That largely comes from the stellar two parter “Feet of Clay” from Batman: The Animated Series, a series of episodes that condensed the long and convoluted story of Clayface into a singular and tragic narrative
