In Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override (dubbed just Fortnite Override), Epic Games is deploying an arcade to Battle Island, complete with iconic gaming legends.
Fortnite’s next major update, Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, is almost here, and Epic Games has confirmed it will be built entirely around crossovers with other video games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Kingdom Hearts and Persona 5. Kingdom Hearts in particular has had a mega week, showing off new worlds for Kingdom Hearts IV at the D23 event, and the addition of Sora to Battle Island is bound to bring some keyblade wielders to the equation.
Battle Island will also be populated with Cheat Codes. Players can race through Green Hill Zone using Sonic the Hedgehog’s Power Sneakers and, if that is not enough, toss a Tetris Rift into the mix. In case you missed it, Override is bringing plenty of chaos, and fans can see it all in the latest trailer below.
Fortnite Override’s claim to fame is its Override Consoles, which appear on Battle Island in every match. These consoles let you rewrite the rules for the entire server, but the challenge is getting to one first. If you do, your name appears around the base of the console so everyone knows who is in control. Rare Squad Overrides provide a buff to the squad that claims them first, but there is a clear downside: your location is broadcast on the map. Of course, if that is what you want, that works too.
Weaponry from Fortnite (and video gaming) history will also flood the map, giving combatants access to Midas’ Masterpiece pistol for One-Shot-Kills, or charge up Mega Man’s Mega Buster to delete opponents. Later in the Overrideseason, fans can get their hands on Kingdom Hearts’ Kingdom Key, Rebecca’s Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and much more (yet to be detailed). New items and Outfits will arrive in the Item Shop all season, with, KINGDOM HEARTS, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, 99 Nights in the Forest, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon (in his retro appearance), and more yet to be announced.
Fans looking for extended, detailed patch notes for the new season can find them on the Epic Games website, but for everyone else, Fortnite Override is live now, so you can jump in whenever the timing’s right.
