Fortnite Esports World Cup Viewership Jumps 482%

The Reload Elite Series Championship, which signaled Fortnite’s return to the Esports World Cup after a one-year hiatus, saw a 481.6% rise in peak audience reach compared to the 2024 edition. It also enjoyed an almost 506% spike in watch time from the inaugural event, with both results representing EWC series records for the title.

The Esports World Cup 2026 event for Fortnite differed from the game’s previous appearance in 2024. This time, it was part of the popular builder shooter’s Reload game mode and served as its inaugural Global Championship.

The number of participating Duos was increased from 16 at the Esports World Cup 2024 to 40 this year. This meant an expanded format where a new Survival Stage was added to make things more interesting and to give fans more action to follow throughout the competition.

The Reload Elite Series Championship reached 422.6 Peak Viewers during Round 13 of the Finals, which ended up being this stage’s last game. This represented a huge spike in audience reach compared to the EWC 2024, which peaked at a relatively meagre 72.6K viewers.

The Reload Elite Series Championship attracted some of the biggest names in Fortnite livestreaming, including Shaun “aussieantics” Cochrane, Bruno “gorilon” Massieri, Mohammed “faxuty” Eid, Cody “clix” Conrod and Nicolas “nikof” Frejavise, helping it attract much higher numbers than 2024. This was also reflected in the sheer volume of unique broadcasting channels covering the action, which shot up from 49 to 194 across iterations.

This top-tier Fortnite competition also accumulated 4.8 million Hours Watched, over five times the watch time seen two years back. The expansion to 40 teams was a big factor in this rise, as more matches were played. Moreover, instead of a traditional Playoffs bracket seen in 2024, this year, the Match Point Format was adopted, ensuring a lot more games in the Finals as well.

The Reload Elite Series Championship also ended as the second most popular Fortnite event in 2026, behind only the FNCS 2026 Major 1 Summit. Across all the events held at the EWC 2026, it just about entered the top ten by peak concurrent viewers, outdoing the Dota 2, Valorant, and PUBG competitions.

Taylor-Petrik “Vic0try0na” Gatschelhofer and Danila “Malibuca” Iakovenko clinched the title after 13 rounds of the Finals. The two became Match Point Eligible in Round 11 and were finally able to clinch the crucial Victory Royale two games later to emerge as the champions.

The winning Duo took home $130,000 each out of a total prize pool of $1 million. They also played their part in helping their club, BIG, end the EWC 2026 on a high, claiming its only win this year and helping the German epsorts organization jump into the top 20 on the final Club Championship standings.
