FWICE says Daler Mehndi does not consume alcohol
In its letters, FWICE said it was aware of the singer’s health problems and his recovery from surgery. The federation also maintained that Daler Mehndi was not a consumer of alcohol and urged authorities to exercise caution before making claims about an artist’s condition.
The organisation said public events must run smoothly, but any concerns about a performer should be handled privately and respectfully.
FWICE added that an artist’s well-being should come with “compassion and professionalism” rather than public accusations.
Singer’s public humiliation distresses industry
The federation also highlighted Mehndi’s contribution to Indian music, pointing to his popularity across generations.
“An incident involving the public humiliation of such a senior artist is deeply distressing to the entire entertainment fraternity,” the letter read.
FWICE stressed that performers deserve fair and professional treatment regardless of their standing or personal circumstances. It also reminded public representatives and event organisers of their responsibility to address concerns about an artist’s health or performance appropriately.
The federation called for greater sensitivity from authorities when dealing with performers and reiterated its commitment to protecting the welfare and professional rights of entertainment industry workers.
