Famitsu review scores – August 23, 2026 – first score for Neptunia Unlimited plus Brigandine Abyss and more

The latest Famitsu review scores for the week of August 23, 2026 are as follows:

    • Brigandine Abyss – 8/8/8/8
    • Neptunia Unlimited – 8/8/8/7
    • Starsand Island – 7/8/8/7
    • Pizza Delivery 5/6/5/6

Note that for each review, four editors gave out scores. The final total in the Famitsu review is there for out of a total of 40 points.

Here are the verdicts for Neptunia Unlimited from the four reviewers:

Despite its grand theme, this game is once again enjoyable with its abundance of industry jokes and meta-humor. The new goddesses, adapted to the times, are cute and have great models. The reunions with existing goddesses are dramatic. Even if you haven’t played previous games, you can easily grasp the relationships and other elements, making it suitable for newcomers. The action sequences feel a bit clunky at times, but the enjoyment of controlling the characters increases as you progress through the game. There are also plenty of elements to keep you engaged, such as special dungeons.

The arrival of the new goddesses feels like the series has entered a new era. The usual lighthearted tone will surely appeal to fans. The ability to fly around the field is refreshing, and the feeling of freedom from high-speed flight is exhilarating. In battles, you can fly around in the air, and the simple controls allow for exhilarating action, which is great. The ability to “transform into a goddess” with a single button is also a nice feature. The sheer scale of battling gigantic bosses is exhilarating.

This game, like the previous ones, is a chaotic story full of meta jokes. While it mainly revolves around Neptune and the new goddess, it’s nice that the senior goddesses also make appearances. Both the Live2D character sprites and 3D models are cute. The ability to “transform into goddess form” and fly during exploration is convenient. On the other hand, each map feels a little small, but the puzzle areas add a nice touch. Aerial battles are also possible, but the camera can sometimes spin around frantically depending on the enemy’s position.

The game’s appeal lies in its character interactions and expressive story scenes, which are still present in this installment. The parodies of the gaming industry scattered throughout are enjoyable, and the UI and presentation are meticulously crafted. While the new aerial movement and combat features are visually impressive, the overall combat strategy feels somewhat subdued, giving the impression that it can easily become a button-mashing fest. Although there are elements for dedicated players such as weapon upgrades, the field exploration mechanics are somewhat lacking.

Clayface has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to the Batman’s rogues gallery.
