Ah, the classic “wants out of the assassination business” plot, a tale as old as time and equally as unlikely to actually stick, much like every comic book character’s promise to retire, die, or otherwise stop appearing in profitable sequel issues. The preview pages show our masked protagonist mid-heist in what the narration calls “Sin City,” dispatching the delightfully named crime lord Michel Rafferty — described in captions as an “ugly man” who “makes a pretty corpse” — with brutal, silent efficiency before unmasking to reveal a face that says “retirement plan?
