Boong has added another achievement to its remarkable journey by winning two awards at the South Asian Film, Literary and Cultural Festival. The Manipuri film won Best Feature Film, while Gugun Kipgen was recognised with the Best Young Talent award.

Boong bags another award
Boong, a collaboration between Excel Entertainment, Chalkboard Entertainment, and Suitable Pictures, achieved a remarkable milestone.
The film has earned awards for Best Feature Film and Best Young Talent for Gugun Kipgen at the South Asian Film, Literary and Cultural Festival. After its theatrical re-release drew an overwhelming response, the film made history by surpassing Rs 1 crore at the box office, officially becoming the highest-grossing Manipuri film ever.
The film has now secured yet another incredible achievement.

In yet another milestone for its extraordinary journey, Boong secured a place in history on the world stage by becoming the first Indian film to take home a BAFTA award, a groundbreaking feat that earned Manipuri cinema international acclaim. This recognition represented a pivotal moment for the film’s creators as well as for Indian cinema as a whole, underscoring the wealth and variety of stories coming from every region of the country.
Penned and helmed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the film had its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, launching an outstanding festival run that featured screenings at the Warsaw International Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival, Adelaide Film Festival and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, among many others.
Boong is set in Manipuri and centred on a young boy, portrayed by Gugun Kipgen, who longs to bring his fractured family back together. Boong is brought up by his single mother, Mandakini, played by Bala Hijam Ningthoujam, and he embarks on a touching journey with his closest friend to locate his absent father. It addresses deeply significant themes of hope, resilience, and the ties between a child and mother.
