In his new posthumously released memoir, Eric Dane revealed he almost got into a physical altercation with fellow actor Josh Duhamel on the set of the NBC comedy-drama Las Vegas.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Dane wrote in his new memoir, My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moment, that he really didn’t get along with Duhamel, who starred in the show. When Dane showed up for a guest role in a Season 2 episode of the series, he was trying his best to “work through” a herniated cervical disc in his neck. He was scheduled to have an onscreen fight with Duhamel, and let him know that he wanted him to go easy as he recovered from his neck injury. Apparently he didn’t listen.
“I’m on set, shooting a guest shot for the show Las Vegas. We’re about to film a fight scene. I ask the lead, Josh Duhamel, to please not grab me by the tie during the scene. He promises me he won’t,” Dane wrote in the memoir. “The director calls ‘Action,’ and Josh pulls on my tie. Fire rips through my neck. I go, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, we have to stop.’ He apologizes, I grunt from the pain, and then, take two. He pulls on my tie again.”
As a result of Duhamel ignoring his request, Dane approached a producer and told him to “rein” in the actor. Duhamel apologized and claimed he “got caught up in the moment.”
“Fine. Okay. Take three, and son of a bitch, he grabs my fucking tie again,” Dane continued. “I whip off my suit coat and I say, ‘Let’s go, you pussy-ass actor.’ I ball my hands into fists and I come at him. Nobody calls ‘cut,’ the camera keeps rolling, and to the world who sees the whole nasty scene, I’m the aggressor, the hothead, I start the fight.”
He added, however, that they later saw each other during their careers and things weren’t as tense. “Josh and I have seen each other since and we’re cool. But I want to say it again. Josh, I was wrong. I should’ve walked away. I’m sorry, dude,” he wrote.
In April 2025, Eric Dane revealed that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). By October that same year, he was in a wheelchair, and he died of ALS-related respiratory failure on February 19, 2026.
