The voices behind some of the world’s most recognisable cartoon characters have lost one of their most familiar performers. Eric Bauza, the Emmy Award-winning voice actor who brought Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and several other Looney Tunes favourites to life, has died at the age of 46.

Bauza died suddenly at his home on Sunday, according to a statement shared by his family on his Instagram account. Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner list hypertensive cardiovascular disease as the cause of death.

“Eric Bauza, Emmy Award-winning voice actor and the modern voice of iconic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with dozens of other beloved cartoon characters, has passed away suddenly,” his family wrote. “More details to come.”

From Bugs Bunny to Daffy Duck, Bauza’s iconic voices

Bauza became one of the most sought-after voice actors in the animation industry, taking on characters that generations of viewers had grown up watching.

Along with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, he voiced Tweety, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig and the Road Runner. His work also included Charlie the Dog in the upcoming Looney Tunes film ‘Coyote vs. Acme’.

His performances featured in ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ and ‘Looney Tunes Cartoons’, among other projects. Playing several characters from the same franchise also showed the range of his work as a voice performer.

A career spanning more than 400 credits

Bauza began building his screen career with ‘The Ripping Friends’ in 2001. Over the years, he went on to accumulate more than 400 acting credits across television and film.

His credits included popular animated series such as ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, ‘Chowder’, ‘Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’, ‘Fanboy & Chum Chum’ and ‘Ben 10 Omniverse’.

He also worked on ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel’, adding to a career that covered a wide range of animated productions.

His work continued into 2026. Among the projects featuring his voice this year were ‘Chibiverse’, ‘Minions & Monsters’, ‘Forgotten Island’, ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Superkitties’ and ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’.

Emmy wins recognised his contribution to animation

Bauza’s work earned him several major awards and nominations during his career.

He received five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his performances in ‘Looney Tunes Cartoons’, ‘Muppet Babies’ and ‘The Adventures of Puss in Boots’.

He also won three Children’s & Family Emmy Awards for his work on ‘Teen Titans Go!’, ‘Bugs Bunny Builders’ and ‘Looney Tunes Cartoons’. His performance in ‘Daffy in Wackyland’ earned him another nomination.

    Two projects were in pre-production

Even as he continued to work on new productions, Bauza had two projects in pre-production at the time of his death.

He was set to voice Daffy Duck in ‘Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical’. He was also attached to ‘The Dragon Masters’, where he was due to voice the Shogun King.
