A developer has shared an impressive AI-powered VR recreation of Super Mario 64 running on the Meta Quest 3, showcasing a unique way to interact with the game.
In the demonstration, he explores the game’s world in virtual reality before reaching into the environment with his hand to interact directly with Mario. The footage shows him using his hand as a platform, picking Mario up and tossing him through the air, and even pulling him completely out of the game world and placing him onto a real-world virtual tabletop, where he continues to run and jump before being returned to the game. The creator said the project was inspired by how AI is making it easier to bring older games to modern platforms. He also stated that he plans to make the project openay up to date on the project!
