DC’s Young Justice are back in a new series starring Kid Flash & Blue Beetle

The team behind the recent Teen Titans series is back for a run on DC’s other teenage superhero team and they’re bringing two much-requested characters with them.

The DC Universe has so many teams that it can be tough to keep track of them all. It has been a few years since fans saw Young Justice on the pages of the comics, but that is set to change as the creative team behind Teen Titans: Together is already at work on a new Young Justice graphic novel series. Best of all, both Blue Beetle and Kid Flash are joining the team this time.

Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo are about to set off on a book tour to promote Teen Titans: Together, which is the final chapter of their Teen Titans series. Ahead of that tour, DC has confirmed that both Garcia and Picolo are going to continue working together on DC’s otherteenage superhero team, Young Justice. We don’t have many details about this new series just yet, but we do know at least two characters who will be part of this new team: Blue Beetle and Kid Flash.

“People have been asking for Blue Beetle for years,” explained Picolo in a press release. “I’ve shared sketches of both Kid Flash and Blue Beetle on social media, and now we finally have a chance to put them front and center in one of our stories. Young Justice is a new challenge for us, but we’re still focused on the things we love most as storytellers: friendship, everyday life, and helping readers find themselves in these characters. If Teen Titans taught us anything, it’s that fans always surprise us. I wouldn’t be shocked if we start seeing skateboards and rollerblades showing up in cosplay photos before long.”

“As sentimental as we are about finishing the Teen Titans series, this is also just the beginning of a new chapter for Gabriel and me,” said Garcia. “At the heart of all our books is the idea of becoming who you’re meant to be while learning to embrace who you already are. We’re excited to bring that perspective to Young Justice and introduce readers to our vision of Kid Flash and Blue Beetle.”

The new series will, fittingly, be titled Young Justice: Kid Flash and Blue Beetle. No release date has been announced.
