It cannot have escaped comic book retailers’ notice that they have had some new readers in of late, picking up Absolute Batman. As the comic book continues to head north of a half million orders for every issue, with the million number in its sights, might it be an idea that customers might like other comic books to read as well? As long as it’s still Batman, of course? DC Comics will be telling comic book retailers later today at San Diego Comic-Con’s ComicsPRO retailer event about their new “DC Start Here” programme.

These special edition first issues of beloved classics are priced at just $1.00, making them the perfect on ramp to the DC Universe. Nice idea. Here are the first of the DC Start Here books launching in September. Maybe they might even move on to a character other than Batman someday as well… it’s always a possibility, right?
