Machete star Danny Trejo is headed to San Diego Comic-Con to promote his newest project, a comic book series called Year of the Devil. This action-packed book is co-created by Trejo and features his likeness as a hero cursed to battle the Devil across the ages

IGN can exclusively debut the cover art to Year of the Devil ahead of SDCC. Check it out in the slideshow gallery below:

Year of the Devil is co-created by Trejo, transmedia creator Keith Arem (Call of Duty), and writer Chris Yates (Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol). Frank Mazzoli (Dune, Rebel Moon: Nemesis) is handling the interior art, while the book features covers by Vanesa R. Del Rey (Redlands, The Witcher), Carlo Barberi (Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn), Raymond Gay (TMNT, The Darkness), Jonathan Uribe (Spawn, Transformers), J. Gonzo (TMNT, D’ORC), Jaime Carrillo (Star Wars, Dark Souls), Willi Roberts (The Last Starfighter, Witchblade), Eskivo (The Exiled, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), and Kevin Keane (She-Spawn, King Spawn).

Here’s the official description of the series:

Year of the Devil is a prestige five-issue graphic novel that combines Aztec mythology, biblical prophecy, supernatural horror, and relentless action. Trejo stars creatively as Diego, an immortal warrior cursed to battle the Devil and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse across the centuries in a desperate fight to save the woman he loves and prevent humanity’s extinction.

“Year of the Devil is about redemption,” said Trejo in a statement. “It’s brutal, emotional, and unlike anything I’ve ever been part of. Diego is a warrior who’s been fighting evil for centuries, but underneath all the violence is a story about love, sacrifice, and second chances.”

Fans can learn more about the book at the “Danny Trejo’s Year of the Devil” panel at SDCC, which is being held on Saturday, July 25 from 5:30-6:30pm in Room 6DE. Trejo, Arem, and Yates will all be present, along with BackerKit’s Dave Alvarez-Villalpando and moderator Ryan J. Downey. Additionally, Trejo will participate in a fan signing event at the PCB Productions Booth (#4039) on Saturday, July 25 from 12:30-2:30pm

Following its Comic-Con debut, Year of the Devil will kick off a crowdfunding campaign beginning on September 29

SDCC 2026 will be held from Wednesday, July 22 through Sunday, July 26. For more on what to expect from the show, check out Funko’s exclusive Invincible Pop! figuresand Jazware’s exclusive collectibles
