‘Dancing’s Pro Search, ‘All American’ Final Season, Extra Heat on Netflix, Disney’s ‘Rabbit Hole’

    Matt RoushJuly 13, 2026, 7:00 am

Dancing With the Stars spins off with a new competition series for elite dancers hoping to join the show as a new professional. The CW‘s All American begins its eighth and final season. The hit YouTube series Hot Ones expands to Netflix with themed Extra Heat specials, the first featuring Will Ferrell. Influential digital creators go down Hulu‘s Rabbit Hole with stunts and spectacles in a raucous reinvention of the variety show

I keep expecting to hear the A Chorus Line anthem “I Hope I Get It” while watching the Emmy-nominated Dancing With the Stars’ new spinoff, which pits 12 dancers with various levels of experience and background in a competition where one will be rewarded a coveted spot as one of the show’s pro dancers. Or as one of the hopefuls puts it, “the biggest dream job on TV right now.” Season 34 winner Robert Irwin is the relentlessly chipper host, with judges Shirley “Queen of Latin” Ballas and her three-time Mirrorball-winning son, Mark Ballas, as regular judges. Joining the panel and serving as mentor for the premiere: Emmy-winning dancer/choreographer Derek Hough, a DWTS superstar and judge with six Mirrorball wins to his credit. “It’s all about technique,” he repeats multiple times as he coaches the guys on jive and the women on salsa in the first round, with one male dancer and one female sent home in the final judgment.

One of the last remaining remnants of an earlier CW regime, the serialized sports drama returns for its eighth and final season, picking up six months after the pivotal Beverly-Crenshaw game. The entire season takes place during the course of an eventful week, opening with back-to-back episodes as Cassius (Osy Ikhile) sets out to prove he’s the right coach for Beverly while forging new family ties with Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), who rekindles his relationship with Layla (Greta Onieogou) after she returns from tour.

    Series Premiere

Hot Ones host Sean Evans raises the temperature on the streamer with an expansion of his hit YouTube franchise, venturing outside the studio for a series of Extra Heat specials pegged to major events on Netflix. The opener adopts a sports theme, with guests including Will Ferrell, star of the upcoming golf comedy The Hawk (launching Thursday), and his co-stars, Fortune Feimster and Jimmy Tatro, gathering in a baseball stadium. They’ll be winging it, suffering through bites of 10 chicken wings with escalating intensities of hot sauce, following the livestream of the MLB Home Run Derby(8 pm/ET).

Followers will follow, and that’s what Hulu and Disney+ are hoping will happen by gathering 36 of the most popular online creators for teens on platforms including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Twitch to form an ensemble and collaborate on a frenzied reinvention of a variety show. Headliners include Topper Guild, Zhong, ZHC, Collins Key, Dan Rhodes, and former Nickelodeon child star Josh Peck, with a combined total social-digital fan base numbering upwards of 675 million. Their high-octane stunts and challenges, including staging a zombie apocalypse, are likely to draw quite a crowd for the 10-episode half-hour series, all available for (what else?) a binge-watch.

Andrew Zimmern with Judges Moe Casen, Ernest Servantes and Jess Pryles, 'Pitmasters' Season 1, Food Network, premieres July 13, 2026.

Summer is the time for grilling, and the network’s latest competition for masters of the pit offers teams up to $50,000 in prize money if they can survive a weeklong challenge set deep in the wilderness. In the first round, they’re given nine hours for a “Big Burn,” to prepare a family-style platter of two proteins and at least one side that will be served to the judges (Andrew Zimmern, Jess Pryles, Moe Cason, Ernest Servantes) as well as to their competitors. Because there’s always a twist, they’ll also need to create a “Flash Burn” single-bite BBQ dish in one hour.

    • World War II with Tom Hanks (8/7c, History Channel): The historical docuseries continues with two episodes, the first examining strategies employed by Axis powers Germany and Japan on their respective home fronts, and the second relating heroic stories of anti-Nazi resistance in occupied countries.
    • The 1% Club (8/7c, Fox): Game shows are back in full force, with the return of the brain-teasing contest hosted by Joel McHale, followed by the relatively mindless The Quiz with Balls (9/8c), hosted by Jay Pharoah.
    • American Ninja Warrior (9/8c, NBC): The Eastern Regional Finals begin in Las Vegas, with athletes vying for a spot in the National Finals.
    • 120 Hours Behind Bars (9/8c, Discovery): The docuseries that goes inside America’s prison system opens its second season with a visit to the Clay County (Mississippi) Detention Center.
    • The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (11:35/10:35c, NBC): The late-night show goes all in on promoting the release of The Odyssey (from sister company Universal, opening Friday) with guests from the epic film all week, including Tom Holland tonight, Matt Damon on Tuesday, Zendaya on Wednesday, and Lupita Nyong’o on Thursday. Late Show with Seth Meyers(12:35 am/11:35c) also gets in on the action, with Odyssey star Anne Hathaway tonight, Jon Bernthal on Wednesday, and Damon again on Thursday.

    ON THE STREAM:

    • Murder 101 (streaming on Prime Video): A three-part docuseries drops in on a high school class in Tennessee, where teacher Alex Campbell turns his students into citizen detectives as they investigate a series of long-unsolved murders.
    • Fans of fictional crime can settle in with new episodes of Acorn TV‘s Harry Wild and Inspector Ellis.
