Dhanush’s next Tamil film, D56 directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu of Lubber Pandhu fame has officially commenced with a pooja ceremony in Madurai. Pictures from the event now give us a glimpse of the film’s extended cast, with a few familiar names added to the project.
The film was released on Friday and the function was said to be held at Maranadu Karuppanaswamy Temple in Sivaganga district. During the event, Dhanush was seen surrounded by fans, during which he offered an 18 foot sickle to the deity of the temple.
The filmmakers are now eyeing a summer 2027 release.

The pooja stills have revealed a number of actors who will be part of the film, while Dhanush was already confirmed as the hero.
The cast includes the likes of SJ Suryah, Preity Mukundhan, Vijay B Kumar and Vadivelu. However, the makers have not yet revealed more details about their respective characters.
Music of D56 will be composed by Sai Abhyankkar. Interestingly, the composer is also working for Dhanush’s other upcoming project, Om.
We expect to release more information about the supporting cast and crew over the next few days.
Lubber Pandhu’s next of Tamizharasan Pachamuthu
Lubber Pandhu was a huge success and Tamizharasan Pachamuthu’s next directorial venture is D56. Earlier, the filmmaker had said the film would go on floors after the Tamil month of Aadi, after location recce work was started earlier this year.
The project is produced by Naga Vamsi and Haritha Lingusamy under the banners of Sithara Entertainment and Primark Productions.
So far the team has been very hush-hush about the film and the storyline and title are still under wraps.
Dhanush has a lot of big projects in the works. He is working on Rajkumar Periasamy’s Om featuring Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela.
Originally slated to release on October 16, the film has been pushed back. Dhanush has also confirmed that Om will not be releasing in the Deepavali window, paving way for Suriya’s Scene.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is all set to collaborate with director Mari Selvaraj after Karnan and AR Rahman is scoring the music for their next project.
He is also said to be a part of a project with director PS Mithran and Kareena Kapoor which is being financed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Another big project in his pipeline is Thamizh Murugan, to be directed by Vetrimaaran and with Vijay Sethupathi also part of the cast
D56 is on the floors now and Dhanush is already busy and is getting busier with expectations soaring for his first collaboration with Tamizharasan Pachamuthu.
