D23 time has come again, and Disney’s Entertainment Showcase included a slew of announcements for upcoming Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Disney releases. The biennial convention has taken over the Anaheim Convention Center with a show floor dedicated to all of Disney’s major brands and a weekend of programming that lifts the lid on what the House of Mouse has in store for the future of film, streaming, theme parks, and more.
Marvel Studios made a splash at the event with a booth promoting major MCU releases like Avengers: Doomsday and VisionQuest, and fans received major updates on these projects, as well as news regarding theX-Men movie reboot, during the studio’s Friday night showcase.
Fans also received news on the upcoming Star Wars projects, Ahsoka Season 2 and Star Wars: Starfighter, Pixar’s newest releases, including Gatto, and the long-awaited Simpsons movie sequel, which drew attention on the D23 show floor.
A major part of D23’s programming throughout the weekend was the Disney Entertainment Showcase, which took place on Friday, August 14, starting at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET and running for almost three hours. Find live updates from the presentation below.
All the Announcements From D23’s Disney Entertainment Showcase
Disney’s Entertainment Showcase for 2026 began with a sizzle reel of Disney’s major projects, followed by a dance performance featuring performers from Dancing With the Stars on stage and amongst the crowd. This year, the showcase was hosted by two stars of Disney Animation’s recent blockbuster, Zootopia 2: Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan.
Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro welcomed attendees to the showcase. This is D’Amaro’s first D23 in his new leadership role. “I believe that in order to lead this company, you have to understand what it actually feels like to be a fan. And I do,” D’Amaro told the room. The CEO added that at Disney, they aren’t waiting for the future, they are building it.
The Princess Diaries 3
Hollywood’s busiest star, Anne Hathaway, was the next to take the stage. Hathaway recently starred in Disney’s The Devil Wears Prada 2, which earned almost $700 million at the box office.
Hathaway provided a small tidbit on her upcoming Disney sequel, The Princess Diaries 3, reiterating that it is in development and sharing, “We are working so hard on gettingPrincess Diaries 3right.”
The New Simpson Movie
The Simpsons took the spotlight next, with a video message from Bart Simpson himself, sharing that the film will be in theaters in September 2027.
Storyboards from the newly retitled The New Simpsons Movie show a sequence with Homer at a baseball game. Homer is trying to catch the ball as it flies comically through the stadium, through Moe’s Bar, Barney’s Bowling, into the Duff factory, and eventually back into the stadium, where Bart catches it. Homer and everyone in the stadium share a “doh!”.
Pixar – Coco 2, Incredibles 3 & More
The presentation turned to Pixar, where Disney Entertainment’s Co-Chairman Alan Bergman praises the success of recent releases, Hoppers andToy Story 5.
Pixar’s CCO Pete Docter shared an update on Incredibles 3, saying it will “round out the trilogy of the Parr family.” This third Incredibles film will indeed include a time jump, and see the Parr children, Violet and Dash, step into the limelight as they try to prove to their parents that they’re ready to be real superheroes–although they have difficulty containing their unruly baby brother, Jack-Jack.
A new sneak peek confirmed that fan favorites Frozone and Edna are also back for Incredibles 3,and that the film will have a new villain that Docter describes as “more power than all the family put together and all of the supers.”
Another legacy sequel that Pixar is working on is Coco 2, which Docter describes as a“story that needed to be told.” Benjamin Bratt, the voice of Ernesto de la Cruz, appeared on stage to confirm his involvement, sharing, “I can’t wait to bring my character back to life, or rather, back to death.”
It’s revealed that Coco 2 takes place a couple of years after the first film, and Miguel is slightly older. Ernesto is out for revenge, which sends Miguel back to the Land of the Dead, pushing him to his limits as he’s forced to team up with his enemy.
The showcase also confirmed that a Coco-themed world will be present in the upcoming video game Kingdom Hearts 4. Bratt confirmed he will be voicing his character in the game. Additionally, a TV series adaptation titled Kingdom Hearts: The Series was announced for Disney+, with nothing but a “coming soon.”
Pixar also shared a new look at its brand-new original film, Ghost Market, releasing in Spring 2028. A clip shows a young boy, Kyle, a content creator, venturing into a bar with a spooky atmosphere. The film is described as Pixar’s “very first ghost movie.”
Another upcoming movie on Pixar’s slate is Gatto, the Italian-set film following the street-smart black cat named Nero (voiced by Mark Ruffalo). During his adventures, Nico must contend with the canals of Venice, and everyone knows cats and water don’t exactly mix.
An extended clip from Gatto shows Nero eyeing up a street performer’s priceless violin that he needs to complete a quest for his mob boss, Rocko (Laurence Fishburne). To achieve his goal, Nero seeks help, turning to a flock of birds and asking them to serve as his distraction. Nero gets in position and signals to his bird friends, only for them to spring into action and crash into a cafe sign. A new trailer for Gatto was also shown.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Percy Jackson and the Olympiansmake an impression as archers in winter outfits appear onstage.
Walker Scobell, who stars as Percy, shared that “playing Percy has been the adventure of a lifetime.” He teases that in Season 3, the “stakes are higher, the story is darker, and the Olympic council is finally complete.”
Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to introduce several new characters, many of whom are in attendance at the panel, including Ming-Na Wen (Hera) and Andra Day (Athena). The season will also introduce the Hunters of Artemis, led by Dafne Keen as Artemis, and the Titan, Atlas (Holt McCallany).
A clip from the show gives a first glimpse at Atlas holding the world. Other new scenes show the Hunters of Artemis fighting a tiger, a high school dance, and Percy interacting with Kate McKinnon’s god, Aphrodite. The outlook also doesn’t look good for Leah Sava Jeffries’ Annabeth, who is shown being dragged off a building by a monster.
The official teaser trailer has been released online and can be watched below. The third season releases on Disney+ starting November 20.
The Bluey Movie
The much-anticipated big-screen debut of Bluey is coming in 2027, as Disney brings out The Bluey Movie, following the lovable Australian blue heeler family.
A clip from the film shown to attendees saw Bluey and Bingo playing a game of “keep up the balloon,” meaning they can’t let the balloon touch the ground. Attendees were also treated to the same game as giant balloons were propelled around the arena.
Ice Age: Boiling Point
Disney’s acquisition of Fox Studios has also given it ownership of the Ice Age franchise, and the studio is preparing to release a new installment in 2027: Ice Age: Boiling Point.
Cast members Queen Latifah and Denis Leary took the stage to introduce the movie, which will continue the misadventures of Manny, Ellie, Sid, Diego, and Scrat. The group will “visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World” in the movie, with Leary teasing that it is “really funny and scary.”
A clip from the film previewed the two fan favorites, Scrat and adorable Baby Scrat, as they chased an acorn across a river of lava, before falling into a jungle. The two perused the jungle and stumbled upon an elephant-sized acorn, only for it to be picked up by an even larger Jurassic squirrel.
Tangled
Disney is continuing on its live-action adaptation trend with an upcoming remake of Tangled, starring Milo Manheim, Teagan Croft, and Kathryn Hahn.
New footage showed Croft in costume as Rapunzel, with the camera following her long hair up the stairs, and also showed Rapunzel wielding a frying pan. The movie is deep in production right now, so the two leads shared a video message in costume from the set, but Mother Gothel was there in person, with Hahn sharing on-stage that her character is “the best kind of villain. She’s the kind that thinks she’s actually the hero.”
Disney confirmed Tangled will be in theaters on March 21, 2028.
Oswald
The Mandalorian & Grogu director Jon Favreau has found his next project at Disney with a new series focused on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The cast includes Kathryn Hahn, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Amy Sedaris, and Steve Martin. The project is confirmed as a three-part series on Disney+, set to release in February 2027.
Similar in style to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Oswald is a live-action-animation hybrid that, Favreau said, uses 2D hand-drawn animation. A clip of Oswald sneaking into Walt Disney’s modern-day office was shown.
Marvel Studios
Marvel Studios’ portion of the showcase began with President Kevin Feige taking the stage to introduce the stars of the MCU’s next Disney+ series, VisionQuest. Paul Bettany (Vision) and James Spader (Ultron) discussed their characters before an official trailer was released and shown to the room.
Next, Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Downey Jr. introduced the new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which has also since been released online.
Finally, the X-Men casting rumors were confirmed when Sadie Sink appeared alongside Feige to announce that the reboot, directed by Jake Schreier, will be released on May 5, 2028.
Sink’s cast members then joined her on stage for the first time with Kit Connor playing Cyclops, Inde Navarrette playing Rogue, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier. Adam Driver also videoed in to confirm he’ll be playing Mister Sinister.
Star Wars
Star Wars has two major releases coming up, both of which were included in the Disney Entertainment Showcase.
The first was Ahsoka Season 2, which has been confirmed for a January 20 release date on Disney+. Dave Filoni, Rosario Dawson, Eman Esfandi, and Hayden Christensen appeared on stage to discuss the new season. They said the new season is “massive” and that the“threat of Thrawn looms large.”
Esfandi shared that his character, Ezra Bridger, is “reunited with hisRebelsfamily and is now fighting for the New Republic against the Imperial Remnant.”

Also on the horizon for Star Wars is a brand new original theatrical film: Star Wars: Starfighter. Director Shawn Levy was at D23 and shared that the new film will be released on the exact same weekend the original Star Wars was released 50 years earlier.
“Our story takes place in a period of time that’s never before been shown in a Star Wars adventure,” Levy shared. Levy as then joined onstage by Gosling, who reveals that his new character, Kade, is a “guy from the wrong side of the galaxy whose fate is intertwined with the fastest starfighter ever built.”
Footage screened during the showcase revealed Flynn Gray’s young character entering a garage and touching a battered starfighter. Gosling’s Kade warns him, “Didn’t I tell you not to touch anything?”Kade hints that there was a reason the starfighter was decommissioned. The footage also showed off a new planet in the Star Wars universe.
Disney Animation
The final portion of the evening focused on Disney Animation’s upcoming films.
Zootopia 2’s director, Jared Bush, began by revealing an after-credits scene that confirmed Zootopia 3, with Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), and Gary the Snake (Ke Huy Quan) returning.
Disney also presented a look at its next original animated film set for 2028: Clay. The film focuses on a character named Flip, voiced by Keiran Culkin, who is tasked with mentoring a ball of clay named Mushi. On their journey, Flip must keep Mushi alive in a fantastical forest.
The attention turned to Disney Animation’s imminent release, Hexed. The movie features Hailee Steinfeld as the voice of the teen witch, Billie, who is on a magical coming-of-age adventure. Steinfeld hinted on stage that Hexed will “bring the witches” before she was joined by Walton Goggins, who voices her local guide in the magical world of Hexe. Goggins shared that he is playing a“witch’s favorite companion,” a green cat with three eyes and a pink jacket named Beef Roger Crumchuck.
A sneak peek from the film confirmed that Billie is on the run from the dangerous queen of the witches, who is voiced by Jodie Foster (marking her first appearance in a Disney animated film).
The final film to take the stage was Frozen 3, the next installment in the phenomenally popular Disney animated film franchise. Idina Menzel (Elsa) and Kristen Bell (Anna) arrived to sing a song from the movie, although technical difficulties got in the way.
The stars teased that the world in Frozen 3 is different, more mysterious and dangerous, with Anna and Elsa going on their biggest journey yet. New plot details confirmed that Anna is finally going to marry Kristoff and that “love is in the air for everyone,” prompting Josh Gad (Olaf) to take the stage and serenade a new character, Samantha, a snow-woman.
Footage from Frozen 3 opened on a curious butterfly-like creature that lands in Elsa’s hand and becomes a block of ice. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf all ponder the strange creature. A scene of a road of light forming over an ocean is shown, taking the characters to a new world in which everything is very frozen (more than usual). A new female villain is hinted at as well, and is shown grabbing one of the ice butterflies and crushing it.
Disney’s Entertainment Showcase at D23 delivered on many of the projects fans have been clamoring for, including finally confirming the cast of Marvel’s X-Men reboot, sharing footage from Star Wars: Starfighter, and announcing exciting new projects like Zootopia 3.
