Last year, we republished an interview with Dan Dare artist Alberto Foche from our Italian partner, the Fumettomania Factory Association, in which he teased his latest project. Volume One of L’Inca blanc, “Le Yuraq Runa” was and surely deserves the attention of English publishers

Peru, 1641. Werner de Hoock is making his way home after a scientific mission on behalf of the Spanish Crown. In the Amazon, he encounters Hans, a very old European who claims to be the Yuraq Runa, the last sovereign of the Inca Empire. Before becoming the Yuraq Runa, the young Hans had lived a peaceful life in a Bavarian village until a terrible tragedy plunged him into a world of hatred and violence.

In 1566, he enlisted in the Protestant army fighting against the Catholics of the Counter-Reformation. However, his quest for vengeance was cut short, forcing him to flee by sea. A shipwreck then set him on a completely different path – a journey fraught with perils that would eventually bring him into contact with the last resistance fighters of the Inca Empire…

“Several books, archetypes of the Picaresque narrative, made me want to write L’Inca Blanc,” Serge said of the project previously. “Among them, Gary Jennings’ novel Aztec, which tells the story of an old Aztec narrating his life in the Inquisition Court, Noah Gordon’s The Physician, and, as for comics, the great Les Indes fourbes, by Alain Ayroles and Juanjo Guarnido.”

Born in Vendée, Serge Perrotin discovered his vocation as an author during a long journey in Latin and North America in the 1990s. He began with the Lance Crow Dog series, an 8-round thriller. Passionate about science fiction, he then created Terra Incognita (Monkey Verde, 5 volumes), then the steampunk trilogy The Other Earth (Joker) and the anticipation cycle Spheres at Soleil. He also signed Frank Lincoln’s volume IV at Glénat (in collaboration with Marc Bourgne), and co-wrote Joseph Carey Merrick (Sandawe), a graphic biography of Elephant Man. He explores the autobiographical register with Au nom du fils published by Futuropolis, adapted for Arte.

His graphic novels include Il Pennello (Sandawe) and Home Exchange (Package). He also writes for the youth with The Mules of Guadalajara, followed by The House Exchange, The Indian Country, The Treasure of Compostela and The Light Plant (Monkey Verde).

In 2021, he launched the science fiction series Lynx (Paquet), with Russian cartoonist Alexandre Eremine. He writes and coordinates in 2025 the collectives 60,000 rebounds – Les pouvoirs de l’échec and Les sables d’Olonne in BD (Editions Petit à Petit). Serge Perrotin lives near Les Sables d’Olonne.

Alberto Foche is possibly best known to regular downthetubes readers for his work for Marvel, as well as Titan Comics Dan Dare mini series, “He Who Dares”. A two-time winner of the annual Asociación Mutantes Paseantes contest, based in San Roque, Cádiz, and once in the City of Algeciras. In 2002, he received an accésit in the Prix de Comics of the Junta de Andalucía.

Self taught, Alberto, represented by the Radebu: Comic Book Author Agency, saw his first comics work appeared in Wet Cómics, for Malaga-based Spanish publishers Editorial Megamultimedia, in 1996.

He launched his latest creator-owned project, Deep Space Raiders, through his subscriber-based Patreonchannelin 2024.
