New feature ‘Solo Leveling: Beyond the System’ and character first-look for ‘Ghost of Tsushima Legends’ among the release news, new trailers, premiere windows, and platform updates revealed at last Friday’s showcase
Crunchyroll revealed its upcoming theatrical feature release Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, a character first-look for the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime, and multiple world premiere debuts during its Crunchyroll Showcase at Anime Expo 2026 on July 3 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles
Hosted by Tim Lyu and Lauren Moore, the showcase featured new trailers, surprise appearances, first-look reveals, and global announcements spanning theatrical films, new and returning anime series, manga additions, and fan experiences
Aleks Le, the English voice of Sung Jinwoo, appeared onstage to announce Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, an all-new anime theatrical feature film now in production. The film will directly continue the series following the events of Season 2. Fans were shown a teaser key visual and new promotional concept video. A-1 Pictures is animating the film, which is produced by Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll. Additional details have not been announced
Crunchyroll also debuted a first-look at the characters for Ghost of Tsushima Legends, offering another early glimpse at the anime adaptation of the action-adventure game. The series follows one of the last remaining samurai as he defends his homeland of Tsushima against the Mongol Empire. Takanobu Mizuno is directing, with Hayate Inc. overseeing production, Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi of Nitro Plus writing the script, Urobuchi handling story composition, Takashi Okazaki providing character designs, and Kamikaze Douga producing the animation. Additional production details and a premiere date have not been announced.
In another showcase reveal, Crunchyroll aired a special video message from Dave Grohl announcing that Nirvana’s “Breed” will serve as the opening theme for the upcoming anime adaptation, The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy At All, which is set to launch in early 2027. The series follows Aya, a fashionable and upbeat high schooler who loves rock music but cannot find anyone who shares her interest until she meets a cool, stylish CD shop employee dressed in black from head to toe. Aya develops a crush without knowing the employee is actually her female classmate Mitsuki. Additional details have not been announced.
Following the recent announcement that Kagurabachi is coming to Crunchyroll next year, attendees saw an exclusive Q&A with Chihiro Rokuhira’s Japanese voice actor, Taihi Kimura, and Crunchyroll News Editor-in-Chief Kyle Cardine. The panel audience also received an exclusive first look at Chihiro’s provisional character design sheet
Crunchyroll announced that the anime adaptation of the manhwa “Here U Are” will stream on the platform. The series follows Yang Yu, a university upperclassman loved by everyone, and Huan Li, a quiet, antisocial new student. The two get off on the wrong foot, but despite clashing and repelling each other, they remain drawn to one another
Fate Rewinder will launch on Crunchyroll in April 2027. The sci-fi mystery thriller follows heroes equipped with the Retry Eye, an ocular implanted device that grants the power to rewind time. The series centers on Chrono, a new Rewinder who must master his ability to save people who have died tragically
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 5 will stream on Crunchyroll next year. The new season continues Naofumi’s journey into perilous waves of danger as he and his companions face threats that may implicate the other Cardinal Heroes
Crunchyroll revealed the worldwide premiere trailer for Dengeki Daisy, a romantic comedy about an orphan whose encounter with a mysterious hacker pulls her into espionage
Aoashi Season 2 will stream on Crunchyroll this coming October. The new season continues Ashito’s journey after his devastating junior high tournament loss and recruitment by J-League’s top managers as he pursues his dream of becoming one of the greatest soccer players of all time
Gacha Girls Corps will arrive on Crunchyroll in January 2027. The series follows mobile game addict Heihachi, who is dragged into another world after making an unusual in-game pull. When monsters attack, he rolls gacha and summons Norl, a powerful knight who may be his only hope
Magical Buffs – The Support Caster is Stronger Than He Realized! will stream on Crunchyroll in January 2027. The fantasy series follows skilled support mage Wim Strauss, who is expelled from his guild for overshadowing its leader and gets a second chance when his childhood friend invites him to join her A-rank guild, Nachtibelle
Crunchyroll shared another look at The Vermilion Mask, which will come to the platform this October. The series follows Peru, a pupil of legendary mask maker Gaston Roux, who becomes controlled by the Mask of the Warrior God and unintentionally kills his friends and master. To prevent the tragedy from happening again, Peru swears to destroy all of Gaston’s masks scattered around the world and confronts the sins he has committed on his voyage
Overgeared will stream on Crunchyroll this year. The series follows Grid, an unlucky low-level player in the popular VR game Satisfy, who receives an opportunity for an S-Rank Quest that changes his life. After finding a powerful item, he earns the rare legendary class title Pagma’s Successor and becomes a skilled blacksmith capable of forging unique weapons and equipping the game’s most powerful gear. As Grid pursues fame and fortune, his new abilities begin stirring up trouble in Satisfy, and he learns that life as a legend may be more than he expected.
Crunchyroll also announced that AKIRA will return to theaters in the United States and Canada on September 4 in 4K and IMAX
Crunchyroll Manga, which launched in October 2025, now features more than 400 titles from Japanese publishers including Shueisha, Square Enix, VIZ Media, Yen Press, and others. Crunchyroll announced that Kodansha US Publishing titles including “Attack on Titan,” “Fire Force,” and “Fairy Tail” have been added. “Black Torch” will be available to read on July 13, allowing fans to switch between the manga and anime on Crunchyroll as the anime begins streaming new episodes on July 4
Additional new manga arrivals include “Villainess Level 99,” “Red Cat Ramen,” “Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective,” “Forget That Night,” “Your Majesty,” “Eko Eko Azarak Reborn,” “Grendizer U: The Inception,” “Three Exorcism Siblings,” and “Unemployed Killers Support Group.” New chapters this month include “Do Women Need Sex Entertainment?,” “Farewell, My Odin,” “Sanda, The Elegant Courtly,” “Life of the Tea Witch,” “The Raven Dark Hero,” “Toxic Super Beasts,” “Working for God in a Godless World,” and “Yan.”
