Texas (KTAB/KRBC) –Cross Examined is releasing a special true crime docu-series on the KTAB+ streaming app focusing on one of Abilene’s most tragic cases
The Klapheke Files is about the crime and trial of Tiffany Klapheke, a young Dyess Air Force Base wife and mother of 3 who neglected her young daughters so severely, one died and the other two were near death.
2-year-old Tamryn Klapheke was found unresponsive at the family’s home on base in August 2012, after allegedly being locked in a room with her older sibling without food for days.
Tiffany’s husband, Thomas Klapheke, was deployed overseas.
The Cross Examined team has obtained the 9-1-1 call, crime scene footage, and hours worth of one-on-one interviews between Tiffany and detectives following Tamryn’s death.
In Episode 1, Cross Examined talks to Tiffany’s parents, Tina and Scott Romero, about Tiffany’s troubled childhood growing up in the foster care system and enduring abuse from a young age.
They also highlight patterns that Tiffany carried from her own childhood into her role as a parent, such as neglect of her environment and failure to meet her own basic needs.
In future episodes, we will hear from attorneys directly involved in the case as we unpack the state of the Klapheke home, the extent of neglect and abuse her 3 children endured, and how Child Protective Services played a large part in Tamyrn’s untimely death.
