Maine (WABI) -Collectors and sports fans in Bangor have a new reason to celebrate this weekend
Flagg Trading Co. held a special preview ahead of its official grand opening Saturday on Main Street.
The new collectibles shop is co-owned by NBA star and Maine native Cooper Flagg and his cousin Tyler.
The store promises to be a destination for trading cards, memorabilia and hobby enthusiasts across the region.
For Cooper, being able to open an establishment in his home state is something he’s always wanted to do, and it gives him time away from the hectic nature of the season.
“I think this is different than a lot of card shops I’ve been to around the country, just as far as the environment being very welcoming and kind of cozy. It feels like a spot where you can kind of just hang out. I thought it was something that could really benefit this area, so I think it’s a little bit of the best of both worlds,” Flagg said.
According to Cooper, he and his cousin Tyler have been talking about the idea of opening a store like this for around two years now.
Flagg Trading Company officially opened its doors to the public Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
